Wow, this titanium phone gets very hot. It's actually almost too hot to touch... for sure a lot hotter than the 13P ever did. I hope it's just for the initial setup, where it does a lot of updating and such. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

When mine was restoring and setting up it got really hot. I placed it in front of a small fan for the duration and it cooled it right down. Haven’t had an issue since.

Every phone I have had previously has also gotten really warm during the initial setup/restore process.

Noticed the same thing in a way that stood out. Will keep monitoring how it warms while charging.

15 Pro Max here upon set up was slightly warm (which is normal) and haven't noticed any crazy heat here....just so you know, with smaller devices, sometimes it can run hotter because less space to dissipate heat..I would say it's normal, unless you get the notification where your iPhone temperature warning screen....newly set up iPhones will always run warmer as the device indexes and things settle in...

I'm one week in with a new iPhone 15 Pro. The battery is still getting hot after a few minutes to the point that I cannot hold the phone. Why is it still getting hot?

Are your apps and iOS version updated? This issue was fixed a while ago.

It turns out that Titanium does not dissipate heat well...that is not
one of its strengths.

The titanium/aluminium side rails actually dissipate heat far better than any of the stainless steel rails of previous models did.

Source: hold a 15 Pro and a 12/13/14 Pro side by side and see for yourself.

As I said, hold a 15 Pro and a 12/13/14 Pro side by side and run them in a benchmark and you will see the side rails on the 15 Pro dissipate far more heat than the stainless steel side rails do.

I believe it's because it is a combination of aluminium and titanium, but whatever the reason, whatever science you want to link, if you think the titanium side rails dissipate less heat than the previous models you are just flat wrong.

Even science cant convince cult members!

What science? you quoted a vague reference of titanium but aluminum is used in the sub structure as well. Their experience matches mine as well with the frame cooling off faster. I think you missed the end of that reference too: "however some titanium alloys can dissipate heat better...". Either way, I have two examples of both aluminum vs titanium and titanium vs stainless steel contradicting that. The thickness of the materials used may play a role as well (in the bike exhaust reference).

1. "...aluminium dissipates heat up to 15 times faster than stainless steel."

2.

" titanium exhausts are able to dissipate heat more effectively than heavier stainless steel exhausts"

You're kidding right? Linking some vague science about titanium at ultra high temperatures has nothing to do with it.

The aluminium and titanium composite side rails very obviously dissipate more heat than the stainless steel of previous generations, which is immediately obvious if you actually test it.

If you believe in science, go test it yourself and come back and tell me I'm wrong. You are utterly clueless.

when i bought 15 pro max it was on ios 17 and restoring from icloud backup makes it little hotter, then i have updated to 17.0.3 and charged it with a 20w adapter from 0-50% charging phone screen gets warm but it started cooling down till 60%, i am using spigen touch armour case so dont know how much sides are hotter, but i believe 17.1 will make it calm while charging, as its released yesterday only so dont know yet...hope for the good

It’s not hot. 116°F doesn’t even kill all bakery yeast. And your sink’s hot water is probably hotter.

Thanks. I have the latest updates. Still running hot, just trying to narrow down the apps I use for work to see if that is still the issue.
