My Anker Powerwave won’t charge my 12 Pro! 😞

Having the same issue here. My 7.5w Anker Powerwave isn't working with my iPhone 12 (or my pro). I have emailed Anker support but I imaigne this is all new to them as well. I just get the flashing blue light indicating there is some kind of mismatched power handshake.

A 15W wireless stand is pretty much the only thing I'm waiting for. Currently I'm using several Logitech POWERED stands and they're perfect - no noise, long cable and there's no way to misalign the phone. I hope they'll update it for Magsafe.

Other than the Anker 15w charger stand. (https://www.anker.com/products/variant/wireless-charger-with-power-adapter/B2529111).

Has anyone gotten 15w wireless charging to the iPhone 12 pro with other wireless chargers?

Only a Magsafe stand (which this anker is not) will wirelessly charge at 15w on an iPhone. The Anker will only charge an android phone at 15W. There is an NFC ring with the magnets in the accessories which tells the phone why accessory it is connected to. No magsafe NFC ring will result in 7.5w Qi charging.

Anker emailed me back to tell me my PowerWave stands are not compatible with the iPhone 12!??!? And since i'm a few months out of their 18 month warranty, i'm on my own. Really an unacceptable answer from them.

Having same exact issues with my Powerwave 7.5. I purchased this one to test: Anker Wireless Charger, 10W Max PowerWave Stand Upgraded, Qi-Certified, 7.5W for iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XR, Xs Max, XS, X, 8, 8 Plus, 10W for

This new one does work with the 12Pro. I think the coil positions are different as its a tad taller than my original Powerwave 7.5. I have emailed Anker asking if they would swap it under warranty for the new upgraded model.

My suggestion to anyone looking for new wireless charging accessories for their their new phones is to wait, if possible, for the dust to settle, and let others be the guinea pigs.

The MagSafe system in the 12 series is brand new, and it will take time for 3rd parties to adjust to its quirks and needs, and to introduce products accordingly.

Early experiences and the appearance of the "Made for MagSafe" branding suggest that Apple may have gone to a proprietary protocol its 15W profile, in addition to the magnetic physical attachment provisions encompassed by that moniker.

I wouldn't bet against that case, so the question then becomes whether Apple will require 3rd parties who wish to employ its PPDE to go through its MFi program, or allow the WPC to administer that certification, as Samsung does with its PPDE.

I could turn my Belkin flip blade stand into a 15w wireless charger stand with the MagSafe charger cord wrapped around the top bezel & resting on the stand. Of course, i‘d need an iPhone 12 first...

Are you thinking of this one ?

I was going to be all over that one, until the reports started coming in about MagSafe chargers ruining cases. I put a query to Belkin if they believe their product would do the same. My guess is that it will as it uses the same style MagSafe puck. :(

I thought the marking on the case hasn’t been proven to be the MagSafe? Some people think it’s the actual case coil that may be sticking out too much causing it and rubbing against the charger.

I agree it’s way too early to blame the MagSafe. There is no factual evidence it’s that which is causing these marks.

It’s very simple to turn any stand into a MagSafe stand. I have already used my pucks in my car and nightstand with just some modification of the magnetic portion on the old mount and some good 3m double tape. It actually looks quite clean. And the magnetic hold is plenty strong for all situations I have found.

I've used the MagSafe a few times without a MagSafe case and it has indeed left marks on the third-party case. Most of it has rubbed off, but I have not used it for an extended period of time, so it is unknown if it would cause permanent damage to the case.

Yep, it'll be interesting to see what people come up with. The small form factor of the MagSafe puck allows it to be augmented into a number of holsters/stands/cubby holders.

Just going to have my buddy print a stand for me to use with the magsafe charger.
