To those who’ve seen both displays in person is the extra .8” noticeably larger?

For example, when viewing two webpages side-by-side is the 17”much better?

Hard to compare, since the resolution is so different. You can get more stuff looking good on the 16" display than on the old 17".

I’m referring to the Dell XPS 17 9510 w/ 4K display compared to the 2021 MBP 16.2” display. Both are 16:10.

At the recommended resolution settings when viewing two webpages or documents side-by-side are the two pages noticeably larger on the 17” or is it hard to tell the difference in size on the two screens?

The 17” XPS is only about 5/8” or 16mm wider.

Since there’s little difference in the width I’d guess two pages side by side are going to look better on the MacBook since Windows doesn't scale fonts as well.

I am not sure this will apply. I think the area below the notch is 16:10. And the additional 0.2-inch counts above the notch. So the whole 16.2-inch screen may have some screen ratio different from 16:10.

The 14"/16" MBP's aspect ratio, including the notch, is very close to 16:10.4.

That would result in the 16.2-inch screen being almost as tall as the 17-inch one, but narrower.
