Hi,

Just sold my laptop and plan to pick up ipad2 16gb wifi today.

Is 16gb enough for my use? I plan to mostly surf web and send out resumes.

I dont need 3G as I will use mainly at home.

Thx,

Bob

Seems like you would be fine, I to have a 16gb wifi and use it roughly 6hrs a day and have been fine. I surf the net, Netflix, stream all my music and videos. I have about 16games and still only use bout 4gbs of space.

Unless you need to store your music or movies you'll be fine with a 16gb

Just would like to store my Word docs and import songs to itunes.

16gb is really enough for anyone, especially if you are willing to manage whatever media you might have on the device (movies/music/pictures).

I thought 32gb would be enough for me. I currently have 20gb of just apps, and only a small portion of that is games. Then add vids, books, pdf's and music and you quickly run out of space. I just bought a 64gb model and am already down to having just 20gb left!

You'll be surprised how fast you run out of space once you realize how many apps can actually assist you in day to day evolutions! As apps become more advanced, their size will increase and memory gets eaten quicker. Just a thought.

If they made a 256gb iPad, I'd buy it.

Now I am debating getting the 32gb? but hate to spend the extra $$

16GB will be plenty. spend the extra $$ on a dock or a nice sleeve. You'll enjoy it more ...

Sleeves and docks can be purchased later, storage space cannot. I'd splurge and get the 32. It's better to have extra than not have enough.

I have a 32GB iPad and here's my current stats:

Songs:362
Videos:0
Photos:302
Apps:96
Capacity:29.0 GB
Available: 16.4

As you can see, I don't have much on there and I've already taken up almost 13 GBs.

Wow - I was thinking I may sign up for Target card to get 10% off to offset some of the 32gb cost diff.

Thx

Not a bad idea. 10% off is about 59 bucks. That makes it only 540 USD. Of course, don't forget tax.

16 is more than enough for me. I only store apps and photos on mine. I stream all my music and video either with home sharing or google music/audio galaxy/air video. I have a few games, but not many. My opinion is that if you mainly use it at home and aren't anything more than a casual gamer, the extra storage is not required.

I am starting to stream my music more (Amazon Cloud Player), but since I only have a Wi-Fi model, (same that the OP wants), streaming isn't always an option. It's good to store some stuff locally.

My local Target only had the Black 32gb wifi in stock which made my decision easier. Target changed their policy for new credit cards from 10% to 5% but at least its a little savings.

Good job. You won't regret the upgrade to 32gb. Once you start realizing how many apps there are that are useful and how large they can be in size, you'll be glad you got the 32gb.

Aye, getting the 16GB version is the one and only regret I'm having about my iPad. When I first got it I overloaded it and pretty much ran out of space, I had to come up with a system to keep space free.

I have an iPhone, so I split local content between the two (audio content on iphone, movie content on ipad). Also, minus a few utilities, I don't put any iPhone native apps on my iPad. My iPad still has ~4GB left, and with a little vetting I'm sure I could get rid of some games/apps I never use and free up 50% more.

Hopefully, iCloud will make this even easier especially if it means I won't have store pictures/movies anymore.

You will be more than fine. Other than apps, I don't store any other content on my 16GB iPad. When I'm traveling, I load 2-3 movies on there to watch on the flight, but then I still have roughly 7GB left once the movies are sync'd up. Therefore, I think that the 16GB model will work for you.

The OP already got a 32 GB.
