Sold my 16gb black and got 64gb white and I love it !!! Had to drive to Pesocola to get it which was 2 hours there and two back but totally worth it :D

My local Target only had the Black 32gb wifi in stock which made my decision easier. Target changed their policy for new credit cards from 10% to 5% but at least its a little savings.

Bob

Yeah but if you don't pay it off by the end of the month they screw you on the interest so your savings isn't as much as you'd think esp when you're paying 20+% interest.

What should I be doing?

It depends. What do you do for a living? What do you access on the internet? Are there personal issues that the iPad can assist with?

As a personal example, I haven't had the easiest 20 years in the military. I have 2 large medical folders worth of my med history. I have a secure app that takes scanned images of MRI's and Xray's, plus a medical app that keeps track of my pain meds and when I started them, amounts, doctors involved, medical procedures, etc... and any time a doctor needs the info I can e-mail it or download it directly to him. If the hospitals computer system for reading XRay's or MRI's goes down (happens from time to time) them image can be shown to him via my iPad.

This is just an example of a couple of apps with real world assitance to me. There are many more that I have for things like watching vids (AVPlayerHD), Pandora for internet music, plus the games I like which can be huge in file size.

16GB simply isn't enough. 32gb is bare minimum IMO.

I ordered iPad 16gb like a week ago and I think it's enough. I will mostly keep it at home, sometimes take it with and upload some movies to it if I need. I will just use homesharing at home. I couldn't really care less about games, I have like 1 game on iPod touch which I like. So for me it's enough. I got 32gb iPod touch 4g and plenty of stuff inside it and only 8gb consumed space.

Sounds reasonable, especially since you know your use habits and have your experience with a Touch for comparison.

I have a 32gb iPad, and am almost running out of space. But I load it up with TV show episodes, movies, archived magazine content (New Yorker, etc) that I refer to a lot during my daily commute. And then there is work related content.

But if I used it mainly at home, I think that a 16gb model would be perfectly fine.

Your medical records example is a great usage, but doesn't require tons of space just for images. I do a lot with my iPad, but it's hard take up a ton of space unless you collect videos or play tons of large games. I don't watch stored video on here and I don't play games really (aside from Words with Friends). I have a PS3 for that. Pandora takes up little space also. I have multiple radio apps that I use daily, though most through my iPhone.

So, like I said aside from large games and video, I'd be curious to know how people fill this thing!

assuming you have a computer somewhere (otherwise, how would you get those word files onto it?) i don't see any point in a 32gb for basic use. i just transfer stuff over when i need it.

went on a week-long trip the other day without the computer. i just moved over a few hundred pdfs for reading, streamed videos every once in a while through hulu plus, did my emails, and even did a bit of work on it (i have a mobile hotspot). as long as you aren't a serious gamer, or have special circumstances (lots of video or image files), you ought to be fine.

i didn't use my ipod on the trip, but i should say that i store all of my music there. dollar for dollar it works out much better for the storage space, and it is much more convenient to carry around for listening to music. in a pinch it does the same stuff as the ipad, but for reading and watching shows, not as pleasant.

i'm sure you'll be happy with the 32, but i think the 16 would have been fine.

You'll enjoy the 32GB...it's always nice to have enough storage to add what you want and not have to worry about having to delete something you don't really want to delete at any given time...if you had the extra money to spend, you won't regret it...:)

Ordered the 32gig wifi version originally and then thought better of it and revised the order to a 64 gig version. Not really necessary. The 32 gig would have been fine to hold my 2300 songs, about 100 apps, and a dozen or so books. No movies, I use NetFlix and PBS streaming for those.) A 16 gig version, however, would not have been adequate, at least not without more space management than I was willing to invest. (I currently use about 21g of the 59 gigs available.)

I'm inclined to agree with those who feel the 32g version is the "sweet spot," especially since the storage is not upgradeable.

And for those who feel iCloud's forthcoming 5 gig of "free" space will make the 16 gig version more usable, I'd suggest taking a look at the fine print. You'll be able to use iCloud to store music "purchased" from iTunes. I suspect that won't include the several hundred CD's I have in my iTunes folders. Nor, I suspect, will it include other media stored in the cloud. And keep in mind that access to iCloud will depend upon wireless access speeds and the attendant delays.

Must be a glut of them in your area. I couldn't "pick one up" for the life of me. Ended up having to order from Apple. Hope you get one! I can't wait for mine. :)

I picked up one for my mother the day it came out... went to my local Apple Store and got a ticket (reached at a good time) and was in and out in under 30 minutes.

Here's an example As I noted, I keep a lot of episodes of tv shows and some movies, a lot of video podcasts. I probably could offload some of the tv show episodes, but I don't like bothering to sync my iPad to my computer, except to get system related updates.

Some apps are pretty big. And I keep downloaded issues of magazines on the iPad (New Yorker, Economist and others). These files add up after a while.

And then there is some music, audio books. And all this is before work related material. Very few games, though.

Ah, I forgot a few music videos.
