Hi everyone,

I just wanted to note that as soon as I installed the 1st Dev beta of macOS Big Sur on my 16-inch MacBook Pro, the display output through my USB-C cable doesn't work. Everything else that is on the dock still works (charging through USB-C, connecting other accessories through USB connections and ethernet). It is just the display output that doesn't work.

I had to resort to using a USB-C to HDMI adapter to connect my external display to the MacBook Pro, in addition to the USB-C/Belkin connection and everything works ok through this workaround.

I thought I would mention this as I didn't see it mentioned in various threads throughout this forum, so FYI.

If anyone finds a solution, please post about it!

I am sure that by the time macOS Big Sur releases this Fall, this issue would be resolved, but I just wanted to put it out there.

I have the Caldigit dock and have the same experience. Everything works *except* video (I'm using DisplayPort rather than HDMI).

Interestingly, a non-Thunderbolt USB to HDMI adaptor works fine, so I suspect it's just a bug with Thunderbolt support in this release.

I'm pleased to hear that there will be an OS after the Cat. It has been a nightmare. My 16" MBP arrived last week and it does not like to play with my 36 TB Archive of digital art and sound on spinning HFS+ drives. While we certainly want to move forward in computing, I for one, can't afford to throw away my archives. Given that technology has all but replaced print - we have an even greater collective responsibility now to keep digital culture alive and functioning. My Glyph Technologies TB3 dock is working well.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I would like to clarify that the Belkin dock that I have also uses DisplayPort on the dock and I just use the USB-C cable to connect the Belkin dock to the MacBook Pro.

So, in other words, our experiences are the same and I think your conclusion is correct - there is a bug with the Thunderbolt driver or something related to Thunderbolt that is preventing display output using Thunderbolt 3 through USB-C in macOS Big Sur.

I am having a similar problem with no video output on my 2018 Mac mini+Thunderbolt Display using an apple branded thunderbolt 3 -> 2 adapter.
