Hey guys, I know this has been a recurring discussion but I need to purchase a laptop by June and I was wondering if you think if an update would be happening in the next 3 weeks to the 16 inch or if I should just buy it now.
Cheers!

It is highly unlikely that the 16” MBP will be updated within the next three weeks.

I'd say it's not unlikely at all - the new processors intel have for it are basically identical with a new sticker. All Apple need to do is put the new processor in place of the old one, change the website to read "10th generation" instead of "9th generation" and call it a day.

I'd expect an update real soon. However it will not be worth waiting for.

My thought process is that if they were going to update it any time within, let’s say, the next two months then they just would have pushed the updates simultaneously to the 13” and 16” models. I could definitely be wrong though.

Maybe.

Or maybe they're spreading the 13" air, 13" pro and 16" pro releases out over 3 months so they can keep in the news with new product releases for 3 months instead of 1 month.

The 13" pro and air were released about 1 month apart, so I reckon the "new" 16" machine is coming third week of May.

Why do you need to purchase by June? Any reason why you can't use your current rig and put off the purchase until later in the year when there maybe more clarity on what may come out of Apple?

Ever since this whole lockdown I’ve been left with a 2017 iPad Pro at home as I used to use the computers at work/uni. By late June I’ll have some commitments that require a laptop.

Thank you for your input I think you’re right and I’ll bite the bullet asap!!!
