AMD just announced a new Navi 5500M mobile GPU today, expected to begin appearing in OEM systems "this month." I bet it will be included in the 16" MBP at least as a CTO option, and I'm eagerly awaiting reviews to determine how much faster it will be than the existing CTO Vega 20.

Because 65w is not enough to supply sufficient power a 15”/16” MBP during times when both the CPU and the GPU are hitting peak power draw, much less simply charge a MBP with a 45w TDP CPU and a 35w TDP GPU and Thunderbolt 3 ports providing power AND an 83.5w/hr battery - https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs/
I'd be curious as to how much power the TB ports on laptops can actually supply. In theory they could supply 100 W even with a laptop power supply providing less than that by dipping into the laptop's battery temporarily.

I don't think Microsoft set out to 'solve the problem' of Surface repairability, or they'd have released a modular laptop but as we see from others, that loses the refinement and sleekness of Apple which they are basing their own line from. It's more so they can repair them with less waste than that nice alcantara which had to basically be destroyed. That's my theory, anyway.

The prices here in the US were the same for the launch prices of iphone 11 pro and Xs. Heck the iphone 11 was even cheaper than the launch price of the XR.

It doesn't work like that outside of the US. My 11 Pro with Apple Care for example was nearly 2000 of your dollars. Granted, it wasn't a model with baseline storage, but those prices are steep.

Good enough for me. Going to list my 15” in Macrumor’s classified section

Curious are there any other chips available to use other than the core i9 that is used in the latest 15" MBP? Or would the new 16" really be just as powerful as the 15" but with a larger display and better keyboard.

Always a chance for a surprise but AFAIK there are no leaks predicting availability of faster Intel CPUs this year. I think the 16" will sell based on the new design, display, keyboard, faster GPU (AMD's newest 7nm Navi GPU becomes available this month) and a few ancillary features (personally, I'm hoping for a much improved webcam.)

It will then get refreshed with faster Intel CPUs in Q2 of next year, at the same time as Apple refreshes more of its laptop line to include the new keyboard. (Assuming Intel has the CPUs ready on-time).
