Got my new 16" MBP (2nd one as the first one went back due to a case creaking issue). This is the "high end" configuration - 2.4G/32GB/2TB/5500M with 8GB.

When I browse this forum, and as I scroll thru the page, I see the following problem:
1) White text becomes "greenish" in color when the content is scrolling. Once the scrolling stops, text is white again.
2) Text looks blurry as it scrolls

In comparison to my mid-2014 retina MBP, the screen looks dull (whites arent white - the 2014 shows whites like super-white while the 16" shows them in a dull white).

WTF is going on here :(. I already exchanged my unit for a case-creaking issue and I now have a panel problem (it would seem).

Is it time to exchange again?!! I am getting tired of having to deal with this on such a very expensive piece of equipment.

I've not noticed this on my baseline 16" that I exchanged for the maxed out version they have in store - same as yours. On this machine I see a bit of ghosting that wasn't there before but definitely not as bad as you're describing it.

Apple. It just works ....

Ghosting is to be expected on high resolution monitors that prioritize color over response times. White on black will ghost the worst.

The first one I got was manufactured on 11/11. However, the one I exchanged it for (because it had case creaking) was manufactured on 10/14. I wonder if the older models have this problem more than the newer manufactured ones... I am thinking of doing an exchange sometime later in Dec so that they would have newer units in stock.

Please explain more... my 2014 retina mbp 15" doesnt have this problem.

I agree that white to black and vice-versa will be the worst, but you can get colour accurate screens with a reasonable 5ms response time - this feels more like double that, and that’s the problem.

I may have stumbled onto an important discovery

The first (and foremost) problem I had was "white on black text appears to change color [to very slightly green] once text is scrolled, and then when it comes to a stop, color is back to White". This bothers my eye and makes me notice the issue in the first place. This effect is highly pronounced when viewing "white text on black bgnd" - which happens during night mode on this forum. The bolder the font, the worse the effect is.

As part of tweaking a lot of things, I turned off Auto-brightness, True tone, "reduce motion", "font smoothing", etc. and nothing really helped.

However, as I played with the settings, what I noticed is that this effect is almost completely eliminated if Truetone is turned on. See, truetone adds a yellowish tint to the screen which I actually like vs. the blueish white screen I have on my 2014 rMBP. It helps tremendously in this particular scenario because the text is quite simply not white anymore. That eliminates the "white -> slightly green color" effect. Enabling truetone may be doing other things too that I dont know about - but either way, it seems to have largely solved this problem for me. :)

Now the second problem I noted earlier was that the text "blurs" as I scroll. It turns out, yes, it still does do that - but only when I scroll really fast. And all by itself (i.e. without that color change issue) and at more practical scrolling speeds, it doesnt bother me as much anymore. I was messing with this all night last night and couldnt replicate that really nasty effect from a few days ago.

Time will tell if I am good with this, but I am a bit more hopeful now. Fingers crossed.

PS: Now if only I can find a way to disable Truetone when I am in some specific apps where color accuracy matters, like Photoshop, etc. that would be awesome :)
