It's a tool for work. A nice tool for work, but a still a tool.

However, the unbelievably good sound from the MBP is just incredible. Was working as a laptop late at night in the lounge and listening to some Jimi Hendrix. Just amazingly good sound out of it. I think they've also played with the phasing as it's a very "wide" stereo image.

A really pleasant surprise. Almost looking forwards to the first voice call using the speaker.

Credit where it's due; Apple's done a great job here.

It's too bad a vast amount of units have popping sounds via the speakers when skipping through YouTube, scrubbing in FCPX, or a rhythmic crackling in Logic.

I think this is a software thing as in the thread about this I'm getting the popping happening even on my external speaker connected through a Thunderbolt 3 DAC. I know some people say they get it in Bootcamp but perhaps it's the audio driver in general or what makes more sense to me the audio frameworks in macOS.

When I have made Hackintoshes in the past I've had this issue before there where the macOS audio kext would create pops but when running Windows on the same system with the official driver from the manufacturer, no pops.

I think Apple can solve this with software updates, I suspect they changed audio systems and the drivers need some work.

The sound from the built-in speakers is absolutely unreal. Aside from weaker bass, the sound rivals a nice set of desktop stereo speakers.

I’m blown away at the sound quality. I played a movie trailer for my friend and he assumed the sound was coming from my Klipsche PC speakers until I told him otherwise.

Have noticed that popping noise when stopping videos/music. No doubt it'll be fixed by a software update.

Still waiting to do a conference call through the 16". Hoping that'll be rather good quality.

I’m impressed enough by the MBP16 speakers (tested in store as I don’t have mine yet) that I reckon I can happily use them to listen to music / radio while working. Which will also mean that I can move the HomePod currently resident in my “home office” into the living room and stereo pair it with the HomePod that’s already there. Win, win :D

Disclaimer - the MBP16 speakers clearly will not deliver the same sound quality as the HomePod but I am sure they will be more than good enough.
