Filling it up will take a lot, but it's giving video and photographers that storage at their disposalI usually buy my phones with 512 GB and even with most of my music library on the phone (so I can use it to connect where there is no internet, a common accurence in Texas) I never fill it. I do not play games but I do use it a lot for calls, messages etc. I cannot envisage using 1 TB, never mind 2 TB. What the heck have you got on the phone? iPads yes because I store films I want to view off line, but I never ever watch a film on my iPhone, the screen is way too small.
If you are using your phone for long filming sessions you may have a point but still photographs do not take up much room. The phone soon off loads when connected to the internet by a decent speed service and I do not want to keep any movies I make for long periods on my phone. Usually I just want the last few days. Each to his/her own I suspect but 2 TB is way over the top I suspect unless you use the phone for semi professional film making and then I am not sure why you are using a phone rather than a dedicated camera.Filling it up will take a lot, but it's giving video and photographers that storage at their disposal
Filming or taking high res photos of places while not having access to Wi-Fi
Not taking an iPad due to weight when traveling a lot, as in my case scenario.
I would presume 2TB will appeal to some, but that baby is going to cost!
I guess you don’t have kids or don’t go on vacation much. Cause I have 1TB videos and photos take up the whole 1TB easy if you record yours kids growing up moments and when you go on vacations and taking pictures for memories. With the high res of the cameras its take up a lots of space.i clean up alittle to even have 300gb left from my 1TB.I usually buy my phones with 512 GB and even with most of my music library on the phone (so I can use it to connect where there is no internet, a common accurence in Texas) I never fill it. Retired, so empty nesters. Even so we do not keep videos on our phones and only keep the last few weeks of photos (we shoot about 10,000 pictures a year). The difference probably is we do not keep our lives on our phone. We keep only the most recent stuff and retrieve older stuff when we need. Since Apple can manage the storage for photos (we have over 100K of them), anything we do view from previous years or months is pulled in and then removed by the management system for storage if we do not need it again. So we have access to over 5000 videos and 100K photos but there is only ever a small fraction on the phone. Music: 80GB (about 10,000 tracks stored as AAC), Photos (including videos): 12.98 GB.I guess you don’t have kids or don’t go on vacation much. ProRAW photos take up a good bit of room. About 60~90 mb per shot. ProRes video takes up even more space. These 1TB iPhones are for us serious photographers and videographers who max out the camera for the best quality available. If one is a basic HEIF or JPEG picture taker, then yeah, the 1TB is not a reasonable choice as those low quality HEIF & JPEG photos don’t take up much space at all. Maybe 2mb per shot.If you are using your phone for long filming sessions you may have a point but still photographs do not take up much room. Good point, I had forgotten about the ProRes and ProRaw formats offered for better quality post processing of content taken with the iPhone. I only use the iPhone for casual photography since I have dedicated cameras for high quality photographs and videos (Sony in the main, A7RV and A7IV with a decent range of lenses).ProRAW photos take up a good bit of room. Cool! I also have the Sony A7R V, great camera. Paired with the Sigma 135mm f/1.8, it makes a fine astrophotography set up on a star tracker.Good point, I had forgotten about the ProRes and ProRaw formats offered for better quality post processing of content taken with the iPhone. The iPhone does a fair job of taking photographs and making videos for casual use, but I am a semi professional and so when I doing work for 3rd parties I use my other equipment. So, agreed if you are using the iPhone to take photographs in ProRaw and video in ProRes you would indeed need 1 to 2 TB of storage, such as yourself. I would venture to suggest that most users are probably not doing this and simply using their iPhone to take casual pictures and videos of their current activities and require fully processed photos and videos out of the phone for immediate consumption. Then 512 GB or less is more than adequate.
Great to hear from another A7RV owner. I love the A7RV, specifically for photographs, the large sensor gives slow read out speeds so it is not that good at video work and the A7IV is better although still has some rolling shutter issues. I do a lot of pet, architecture and general family stuff and the extra resolution of the A7RV allows me to crop in without reducing resolution to an unacceptable amount.Cool! Yes… most users will not use ProRAW & as for myself, I don’t shoot much video, I mostly use the camera for photography. My video editing skills are low so I don’t shoot long videos.

I love the astro photography work you mention. That fast Sigma 85mm sounds ideal.

What do you put on your phone that requires 2TB of space though?I'd be surprised if 2TB is available this year, but if it is, that'll be the model I get.
Everyone has their own case scenarios, some some will, some won’t…but great if the option of 2TB is there. What do you put on your phone that requires 2TB of space though?
