Imagine you buy a Tesla and the interior seat is low quality fabric while others is leather. Same function and car still drives but the quality is just different……
But you don't get to see our touch the metal casing. It's not part of the user experience.

Are you a thermal design engineer?

Unless you are the take you have is completely without any merit.

It’s obvious that they did their own analysis of the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max and figured out there is less room for heat to dissipate thus needing a metal heat sink to improve that.

The 16 PM has more surface area thus a much better thermal envelope.

I have to express my utmost disappointment, as well as an important PSA for those who are wanting to upgrade to 16 PRO MAX.

After watching the disassembly video for both pro and pro max, only the pro has the metal battery (see image above on left side) while the pro max has the usual black plastic foil battery (see image above on right side , same material as usual)

What the hell apple? Why are pro maxes being shortchanged ? What’s the rationale being this ? Why not metal casing for both PRO & PRO MAXES?

It’s a whopping 3500 MAH OF PRO versus 4600 MAH of pro max ! I ain’t upgrading to 16 pro for that 1100 MAH battery capacity less despite it is more “premium” built with metal casing.

I’d just keep to my 15 plus I guess and let’s see what crap apple churns out next year. Well I suppose it’d be 48mp for the 5x tele lens and the same black foil plastic material battery without metal case.

What’s your thoughts on this ?

iPhone 16 Pro Max battery life is pretty outstanding. I have no complaints.

Indeed 16 pro max is 0.6” bigger but how did you deduce that the increased surface area this much better thermal envelope? On what basis?

What’s your bachelor’s degree or field of work if I may ask? If you are an arts degree then it’s not credible and I call bull. If you’re in electrical engineering field then it makes sense.

I don't think the battery is metal-clad to act as a heat sink - batteries don't like heat!

Truth is that we're not sure why Apple put the Pro battery in a metal casing. Maybe it makes assembly easier with the more limited interior space of the smaller phone?

Apple has a place for you to submit feedback. Please go there and let them know they should’ve included this and that’s the reason why you’re not buying this year.

Logically, I would think they didn’t add this to the Pro Max because their internal testing deemed it wasn’t necessary to keep the Pro Max at temperatures they are comfortable with. Also, the Pro Max is already a heavy device, this likely would’ve increased the weight.

You seem to want to continue to argue when people have provided reasons for why it wasn’t included. Nobody except Apple can tell you why they didn’t include it and good luck getting a response from them.

Just wanna share that jerryrigseverything has taken apart the 16 pro max and he also feels it’s a bummer that it’s the same old battery and disagrees with you lot and your theories of bigger size = better cooling capacity and other baseless remarks

The thermal testing of 16 pro max disagrees

i read that the metal shell is there to better dissipate heat. Im wondering if they didn't put that in the pro max for weight reasons. I honestly don't care either way because i've never had a problem with any battery that a "metal shell" would have saved me from. *knocks on wood* lol

The metal enclosure would add some weight. I think people would have been upset over the added weight.

Oh really? So the max overheating isn’t an issue because you say so?

No… because it’s a fact that thermals are improved?! And that’s not me saying it.

And there are millions of these devices worldwide in use now, if there was a large scale issue do you not think the media would have grabbed hold of the story? Exactly.

I forgot he was the be all and end all of tech 🙄

He breaks things… that’s it.

you know instead of complaining about something so meaningless, just skip this year, just because a new iphone releases doesnt mean you HAVE to get it. apple has it's reasons and if you don't agree just keep your current phone and move on it's that simple. having a metal casing won't make the battery degrade less or perform less.

There's a thread going on this very forum that's all about 16Pro/ ProMax getting hot during use. One member measured over 111 degrees playing games.. There are news articles out about it. The difference is this year they're saying that the new phones getting hot is normal because they are dissipating the heat better yet last year they called it a design flaw. I'd say all phones with these types of chips are always going to run hot when pushed. Saying the changes Apple implemented fixed the issue is basically false. It might take a little longer to get to the same temperature but it still gets there
