I've upgraded from a 13 pro Max to a 16 pro max two years ago and there's literally no difference when using it for everyday usage. My battery health is still at 98%. I never pass 3 years with the same phone but it will probably change with my 16PM. I don't see any reason why I'd need a new phone and I don't even want a new phone anymore. Its not an exciting tech like 10-15 years ago when it was the big new tech trend.
I think this was hits the nail on the head perfectly for me including the iOS. Haven't bought anything from the app store since 2016 too and before that, I spent quite a bit.

iOS4 brought multi tasking, folders on the home screen and brought good cameras for the first time
iOS5 was imessage/Siri and brought a big jump in speed due to the dual core A5
iOS6 was turn by turn map directions
iOS7 brought control center which was so useful and eliminated my need to jailbreak lol. Also Touch ID
iOS8 was handoff/continuity and being able to text androids from any apple device was handy, phones were bigger
iOS11 was gesture-based UI for the iphone and of course face ID.

And every update since then was a blur despite them being more recent. But this is my own personal take since i don't care about emojis. memjosi, genmojis, AI stuff

I’m interested to see if people do switch. You’ll have a mass of switching but I’m curious to see if with the iOS27 coming out if people will keep their phones (16s) or not.
