At some point in the not to distant future they are going to have to change the naming convention. iPhone 10 just sounds stupid. I think much like the iPad they will just call it the iPhone. For the C I don't know, maybe iPhone C or something else. They just won't go one increasing numbers, just can't see it.

maybe they'll drop the number scheme and just go with "new iPhone" like they did with the iPad.

I agree with you, but if you think about it, the perfect time to introduce this naming convention would have been right now with the introduction of the new low-cost product line for the iPhone. They should have just called the flagship model "iPhone" and the other one "iPhone lite" or something like that. But instead they chose to go with the names 5S and 5C and there's not straightforward way of continuing such a naming convention.

IPhone X

It wouldn't be the first time for Apple at version 10 :)

They should call the new release hardware model.."the new iPhone" & the 1 year later with the same design but different internals..."the new iPhone "S" :p.

Following what Apple is been doing lately:

The New iPhone
or
The iPhone Air.

I have been saying this for years I'm happy some one agrees:D

iphone air? the new iPhone with retina display? who knows, they could keep counting forever.

I think iPhone with retina display is a little late. iPhones have had retina display since 2010

C is done. You won't see that again. Apple doesn't want the cheap stereotype again.

I agree.

I don't think apple should do this people want to feel like they have something new.

I'm gonna say iPhone 6 unless it gets thinner/lighter then the current 5 series then Air. I really don't see that happening though.
