Hi,

I'm sure I read it yesterday but I can't seem to find where but am I to understand that the 1tb upgrade option in the 15'' mbp retina (late 2013) is much faster than the 512gb variant?

Would be great if reviews highlighted it!

thanks!
Anthony

I'm on a dell laptop - until next Thursday. I think my HD is either on 5400 or 7200 - is there a utility I can use to test the speed of my laptop or are there numbers out there.

Just want to gloat, that's all.

yes I got over 1000 MB/s fresh out of the box before I set up the computer. Now after loading 465GB of data and apps from my Time Machine backup, speeds are around 960MB/s

2.6GHz 16GB RAM 1TB SSD base model

that's quite an impressive upgrade. That's almost 1tb/s in speed

I think I would be crying at what the price would be if it was actually 1tb/s :D

Like stated above amost 1GB/s which is still increadably fast. That means it would take 1 second to move a tv show or maybe a couple seconds to move a big recoreded video file.

That would not be cool if a 1TB in the 13-inch is lacking. Thanks for sharing.

I guess I'll find out soon enough, my 13" 1TB gets here Wednesday.

Worst case is that the data speeds are the same as the 512 but I get twice the storage which is really my main reason for moving to it. That's kind of the problem with these releases, lots of review attention is placed on the 15" so it will take a bit more time for all the models and configurations to get a fair shake.

Post your speeds if you can when you get your computer. I'd hope they're the same as the 15".

Well be sure to let us know. Yeah, the 13" gets less attention than the 15", but for my uses it's the superior model.

About the same. Screamer

Will do on the speed test folks!

In the meantime, if another 13" 1TB owner wants to post a Black Magic disk test, several folks are interested in what you find...

Here's mine (13" / 16 / 1TB). It did "slow down" a bit after loading it with files... even went over 1000MB/s initially!

Thanks!

So it looks like the 9-5 Mac article needs to be adjusted, either the 13" has 4 lane PCIe or......?

Edit 11/05/13: I got my 1TB rMBP today, over 1,000 on fresh start up, 965 write / 928 read, sweet!
