I stood inline originally for the 32 gig wifi.. but as i was thinking i am not going to be working for a while due to the fact i start back school overseas, so i said bump it and went with the 64 gig just so i know i would have space for things i will be collecting over the year and so forth

I had a 16gb with my first generation. I traveled with it and oftened dumped my pictures off my memory card on it. I have about 4 pages of apps and I am a HEAVY ereader through iBook, Kindle & Nook. If I am headed in a plane I will sync a movie or 2, otherwise i keep no movies on here. I keep no music either. I have my iphone for music and if I REALLY needd music there is pandora.

I went with the 16gb for the 2nd generation and I am not at all worried about space. Like the PP's said, its all in what you are going to use it for.

My original iPad1 was 32GB. That was my compromise over cost vs function for a new device I wasn't sure had a permanent use in my life. when I went to upgrade to the iPad2 I upped it to 64GB thinking that would be the least popular model due to expense. Seems a lot of folks have gone for bigger storage capacities this time around. The 64Gb sold out first on launch day at my store, the 32GB soon after. All they had left at the end was the cheapest 16GB models.

The issue comes down to one basic question. Where do you expect to use your iPad the most? If it's always in the home or office near a computer or media server, than the 16GB is just fine. You'll have plenty of storage space for apps and books while you can stream all your music and movies.

But if you plan to travel a lot and take the iPad on the road, then you'll want to have the extra storage space for local access to content. Truth is 3G isn't always available or at worthy speeds for streaming. Audio you can get away with most times but video really suffers. Public WiFi is almost always throttled to crappy speeds.

I later picked up a refurb iPad1 to have as comparison to my iPad2. The iPad1 is only 16GB because it's been designated for Home Use Only. If it goes out with me it'll be as an e-book reader, gaming device and web surfing machine. Audio will get pushed to streaming (if available) or another device. Video watching will be out of the question (unless I happen to get a good enough speed for streaming from Netflix or Slingbox).

16gb is more than fine. I don't need to carry around my entire library of pictures and music with me on every device I own. I put about 2gb of music and the rest of the space will be for apps and a movie or two when traveling.

Home sharing means I don't bother to sync movies or much audio to my 16GB iPad. If I'm going travelling, I have plenty of video I've encoded for my PSP which play fine on the iPad and are only about 400MB a piece so I can get a good selection. Not yet felt constrained.

Originally wanted a 32gb but when I wandered into BB all they had was a 16gb so I went on impulse and impatience. Can't say I'm too worried since ultimately I can't see ever really ditching my iPod anyway for traveling so I don't expect to bog it down with music. Movies really just require some management but again not too worried since I don't figure I'll ever have more than 3 or 4 on it. I'd guess unless I was using it for business and ending up with essential files over time that 16 wouldn't be enough.

Yeah, I think 16GB is enough for me. I pretty much drop about 3-4GB of music that I actually listen to and the rest is for videos and apps. For the most part I like to use My Dropbox to access other multimedia if it is really important and to free up memory if I need it.

If you're willing to use home sharing and mostly just use your iPad at home, the 16 gig is perfect. Just requires your Mac to be on. That way you can only sync media you want to take with you out of the home. I'm willing to bet the daily life of most iPads is from bed to sofa and back anyway.

I don't use my iPad for music or videos so 16GB is plenty for what I need. I keep my music on my iPhone and there I have a 32GB. I have my iPad all loaded up and I am using about 2GB. So 16 is plenty for me. But everyone will have different uses. I think if someone were to use iMovie a lot a 16GB iPad might be too small.

Its been enough for me up until this year. Ive always had a 16gb iPhone and last year I got the 16gb ipad. Around January was when I noticed I had only 1.6 or so gb left. I didnt even realize I had put that many apps on the pad. I was just surfing through my settings and saw it. Before folders existed I was obsessed with only having Apps I actually used and didnt want lame apps on my iPad. After folders, I became less obsessed and downloaded like crazy.

So earlier this month with the iPad 2, I had to decide. Go 16 and start up my obsession again or go 32 and continue to download like a crazy man. I decided to go the unhealthy route and and continue my obsession. Got a 16 again. Other than apps, I just dont do enough to need 32 gigs.

Mind you now, I dont put any music(Pandora, VEVO, and TuneIn Radio get most of my music time) or buy any movies. I RENT(cause I dont like watching movies twice, plus I have NETFLIX)mostly NON HD movies which means I only need a couple gigs free to do so. If I had 32 gigs of space, I would have WAAAAY too many apps that were worthless on my iPad and that would SERIOUSLY get on my nerves.

According to the "about" section of general settings on my ipod touch 4g, I have 400 apps, and around 8gb free space out of 32gb. (I only have a handful of songs, and no movies on it. I have around 2k photos on it too (most are actually iphone wallpapers lol). :D

I'v ordered a 32gb ipad 2, I already have 103 apps that work on the ipad (41 that are ipad-only). And am planning on watching alot of films on it too. So it'll get filled up pretty quick.

The 16gb ipads seem more for people who uses them for work purposes.

Well here's a breakdown if you want to look at it price wise:

16 gb = $31.19/1gb ($499)
32 gb = $18.72/1gb ($599)
63 gb = $10.92/1gb ($699)

Of course this is only wifi comparison. But you get the picture.

I went with the 16GB because I plan on using the iPad primarily at home. With iTunes Home Sharing in iOS 4.3, I always have complete access to my iTunes Library over my local network...lessening the need for a ton of physical storage.

For the times I plan on taking the iPad on trips, it's as easy as checking and unchecking what I want on the device in iTunes and hit sync. It allows me to use my iMac a little more too which is a good thing.

If you're buying the iPad as a pure luxury device to fit in between a desktop and smart phone, I think you should save the $100 and make 16GB work and stream what you can.

ONe thing I just realized I need to account for is keeping space free in order to dump files onto the iPad. For example, I got a Flip cam and I figured on dumping the files onto the iPad to free up space while traveling. That's 8Gb per 2 hours. Gonna have to manage the space for that one...
