Oh you can can you, thats nice

two pointers, O2 is spelt with an 'o' not a zero and it's iPhone.....someone with such knowledge of O2's going ons should know that surely

Someone looks a bit silly now don't they?
Sorry for the typos guys, I'm busy working and typing at the same time!

im sorry but £349 is way too expensive for 16gb.
Especially when you have 160gb ipods for that...

yeahyeah, its an ipod, a phone, an internet communications device....an ipod, a phone, I GOT IT!

:)

So what's that, less than 3 months after the UK release? They don't hang around, do they?

Umm, but they haven't replaced the existing model, or even given a price drop. This is just another addition to the product line with, as far as we can tell at this point, no changes other than the extra storage. No cause for complaints there at all. Actually, I'd say it was a positive sign that we got the revised model at the same time as the US market, bodes well for iPhone V2 when it comes out...

Okay, so I'm mildly annoyed. Price that I paid for the 8GB 3 weeks ago is still the same. I doubt I would have paid an extra $100 for 8GB more, but I probably would have thought about it.

I still think it's bogus they didn't announce this at Mac World.

Is it me or is there no 16GB on the UK Apple Store, only the US one?

in another thread someone with a source inside o2 said they would be available tomorrow morning, so maybe an update later/overnight?

not that i care, i want a new MBP, not another iphone, i don't need 2 ...

Ok, my o2 store quoted £349 avail 2moro morn but other sources have suggested £329 available on the apple store and o2 stores uk within the next hour (i think the latter may be more accurate)
apple desperately trying to boost iphone sales across Europe. i don't think the 16gig iphone will do it for them...
now hurry along with a penryn mbp please Mr Jobs..

Just phoned up the o2 store in Glasgow there, it will be priced at £329. Not £349. Just to clear that up. (I was expecting the woman to tell me she didn't know about the availability of a 16Gb model - the Apple Store here didn't have a clue.)

I just bought an iPhone last Wednesday from an Apple Retail Store and activated it on Friday 1st February... can i return the 8GB iPhone and pay the difference for the 16GB model instead?

How about the contract with O2? will the my 18-month contract be extended another 18 months (36 months / 3 years!) ?

Apple store in Southampton are now selling the 16GB model for £329

Who will buy the 16 gb iphone? Also, why not release a 32 gb version of the Iphone? Also, how can apple sell a 32 GB touch for $499.00 and charge $999.00 for a 64 GB SSD on the MBAir?? Its the same technology.

Is it thicker?

Might pop into southampton and have a look, but I probably wouldn't buy one, dunno what I'd do with the one I've got!
Looks decent for iPhone v2 cause they could probably go for something like 32GB? Which would be sweeeet.

Can someone explain how an extra 8GB of memory on an iPhone costs $100 yet an extra 16GB on the Touch also costs $100? I mean I read an article recently that said flash prices had dropped 75% since August. I can also tell you from the prices of USB flash drives that a 16GB sucker doesn't cost $100 more than an 8GB.

I'm all for Apple making money, but jack those prices down some. It's flash memory, not a flux capacitor.

Funny Man: I say, I say, I say! What is the secret of great comedy?
Straight Man: I don't know. What is the secret of great c..
Funny Man: Timing.

My iPhone screen crapped out Sunday. I took it to the store yesterday, and they replaced it. If I'd taken it today, I suspect I could've paid $100 and got the 16 gigger.

Perfect timing.

After what happened last year, do you think that Apple was going to drop the price of the 8gig unit just after the holidays?

That would be my theory as well. I'm just hoping they're using this to ditch all the 8GB models and then will come out with 16 and 32 models of the iPhone 2.0 when it gets 3G later this year.

I think the lesson to this is the flash-based big iPods are going to get memory additions a bunch until they get up toward where the Classic is in storage. I also would bet on this being the last generation of iPods that uses HDDs.
