16GB Memory on Macbook pro 15" i5 2.4

Hi,

As I understand it, I have a Macbook that is squeezed in between two models that can handle 16gb ram and this model that I have can not?

Or did Mavericks enable my macbook to take 16gb as well?

My macbook is a mid 2010 i5 2.4 15"

Just to be sure before I buy anything.

You're stuck with a maximum of 8gb. The same vintage 13" can handle 16gb.
