I know that there are only 2 ram slots, but at the time this iMac was released there wasn't a 8gb stick of ram for it. Since they manufacture them now, I was wondering if the 8gb (4gb * 2) barrier could be broke?

I ask this as most mac pros support twice as much ram as claimed.

the 8gb sticks cost at best 810 for a pair. at worst 1400 a pair. I am pretty much sure that core 2 duo supports only 8gb not 16gb.
