It's been a week since I've purchased it. No popping sound, no display ghosting. Overall my experience has been great...
or at least until today..

Today a new problem occurred. When the screen is at max brightness all is well. However once I start decreasing the brightness the screen just looks foggy. Not as vivid as it should be. Colors are dull, unsaturated and not contrasty. Blacks look like gray.

Tried it with true tone on/off and auto brightness on/off. Doesn't help.

I tried restarting the device but no luck.. seems like I'll have to go back to the Apple Store to get an exchange.

Anyone else had this problem ?

I'll attach photos in a few hrs.

This is likely a software issue. I noticed this happening on my 5K iMac after one of the MacOS updates, High Sierra I think it was. The contrast is purposefully lowered to make things more readable on the lowest brightness settings. Not sure how to disable it and go back to the old behavior of simply dimming the backlight.

This, restarting it or closing the lid and opening it again fixes it for me on the 16"

I have the same issue. About 10% of the time, resuming from sleep (by opening the lid) will put the screen in a washed out mode. Even switching color profiles manually doesnt help. Closing and reopening the lid helps restore goodness. I am hoping this is software related.
