hi,

I know apple's 17" HD matte screen is a LG Philips LP171WU1 - TLB1 (see it with switchresX control)...

is in the 17"HD glossy screen a LG Phillips LP171WU - TLA1 ???

here

http://www.lcds4less.com/lg_philips-laptop-lcd-screens/lp171wu1_(tl)(a1).shtml

is this screen : "a high glossy screen, you can expect sharper images, better contrast and wider viewing angel..."

is this true? is the glossy the better screen?

price glossy: $595 New ($50 upgraded from matte screen)
price matte: $545 New

is glossy = anti.glare??

thanx peter

It's preference. Glossy gives a better picture (colors are better..) but it is by no means anti-glare. The glare on glossy screens is insane if you're in the wrong lighting. Matte screens are the anti-glare ones ;) I personally use a matte screen because I use my notebook almost anywhere and I can't be bothered with glare issues.
