to the OP: I, like most of the others here, would advise the imac, but it does seem like you've already made up your mind for the powerbook. Which begs the question... why did you ask in the first place?

But, now I realize (after running up to compusa) that 12" is really small.........

I Dont know which to get. I am 13 years old and I need a computer for Internet, and photoshop ;) Which do you think I should get?

EDIT: Or a 14" Ibook?

I can tell from experience that Photoshop on a 12" screen is brutal (See Sig for computer) the palletes alone will take up 60% of your screen. That does not even take into account how well Photoshop will perfrom on the ibook. So my advice is unless you absolutely need portabilty get the imac. If you do need the portability check into a refurb powerbook, that way you could hook it up to an external display. Just my humble opinion.

Good luck

Yeah, photoshoppe is a big deal for me. So I am going to go for the imac. :D Thanks for all your help!

I would make sure to either buy your iMac directly from Apple online or
using 1800MYApple by phone or at a local AppleStore.

I would not buy at Comp USA.

I wish I didn't feel so strongly about Comp USA, but they've pulled a few fast one's on uninformed buyers selling them previous models when new one's were available. They also sold open box items as new.

If you have a family member or friend that can help your parents use the
education discount, then by all means save some money.

oh i know what you mean.

they were selling old versions of the powerbook and ibook the last time i went there at the SAME PRICE (or close) as the newer models.

they were also trying to screw over people into buying their warranty, i should have told them that they were covered by apple for the first year and that it aws not necessary to buy the warranty right away.

**** em. (please excuse my language)

Amazon.com would also be O.K. IF you can not qualify for the education price.

Just keep in mind that adding BTO options with your order will substantially delay your shipment.

So unless you have your heart set on a 20" iMac with the 256MB graphic card update, buy the stock unit and buy your additional RAM third party.
