17" MBP Storage Upgrade

Hi,

I am looking at upgrading the internal storage on my early 2011, 17" i7 MBP.

Can you guys give me an indication of the best bang for the buck? My budget isn't huge - £150 max.

What's reliable/good value/fast etc?

I'm open to ideas, but would like to retain the Superdrive.

When you say upgrade the storage, do you mean faster, i.e., SSD or more space (larger HD)?

Most of the time, getting an SSD is the best bang for your buck

Either/or, but I really need at least 1TB of internal space.

Well, there aren't that many 1TB laptop drives on the market, and all of them are within your budget. Here is a review comparing some models: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/travelstar-7k1000-hdd-review,3479.html

As to whats more reliable, better etc., its like asking people for their color preferences 🙂 They are fairly comparable. If in doubt, just get the cheapest one 😀
