If you have the new 17 MBPro Penryn (with the led display) and you are experiencing the usual yellow tint issue then report here to us!

The 17" panels (hi-res LED backlighting) are very different than the 15" panels. In general they seem whiter and with a tiny bit of blue or red versus the yellow of the 15". The 17" hires is also brighter than the 15" and doesn't show color shift until at a greater angle than the 15" display. The non-hires panels aren't LED and therefore aren't directly comparable to the 15". These seem pretty much the same as the earlier two revisions of the 17" MBP.

Are you sure? Isnt the 17" standard display a led TFT display? Then there is no greater power saving ability than the Merom 17" MBP, right?

Merom units used CCFL backlighting for both the standard 17" and the hires 17". Penryn units use CCFL backlighting for the standard 17" and LED backlighting for the hires 17" (like the 15" units have been using since Merom).

The 17" high rez looks perfect to me.

I do think the 17" hires LED display is significantly higher quality than the ones I've seen in the 15". Closer to a true white, brighter, less color shift when viewed at an angle.

Now if the 17" only wasn't so big and heavy. :)
