I turned it off in 15 seconds after I took it out of the water. And then Put in a instant soup that had rice in it. It just turned on by its self. Is that good or bad... I then turned it off and won't turn it on till tomorrow morning.

Is my phone screwed....

Thanks

Probably, but let it sit in the rice for a few days and hope for a miracle.

Uh, you didn't put it in wet soup, did you?

It is already in rice. Isn't it turning on by its self a good thing?

It turned on by it's self 3 more times. Seems like it's fine.

If your iPhone was off and it repeatedly turned itself on, there is something wrong with it. Put it in rice for a few days and hope it dries out. Water damage can severely shorten the life electronic device.

Rice??? Can't believe people are so naive. What you should do is open it up, disconnect battery, disconnect LCD put motherboard in alcohol to displace water ASAP before the corrosion starts. Then dry it out with hair blower. The sooner the better. Or take it to a repair shop same day and pay $60 and they will do it for you.

Your phone, turning on by itself, three times, is not a good sign. When working correctly, you phone should not turn on by itself.

Only time will tell. If it works in a few days it could still die a week, month, year later. It is luck that will save you.

You call us naive and you want the average person to do what you suggested:p

I would leave it for a week in the rice, to make sure it is FULLY dried out. Although having the phone keep on rebooting means there may be something wrong

Yea as others have said make sure its off and get it in rice for atleast 2-4 days. dont keep turning it on and off to check on it.

Rice does not do anything to speed up evaporation it only absorbs whatever moisture comes out from iPhone. at least use hair blower to speed up the process and avoid more corrosion. The higher temp the faster water evaporates. The longer water evaporates the more corrosion it creates.

Being in a pizza shop. Was more then enough. Kept it near the oven. And turned it on the next morning. It works fine. Zero problem.

You should quit while you're behind. Or if you prefer, here's some basic information on evaporation.

My interest in an ongoing discussion evaporated.

Was that to me. Or the person who just commented. I thought putting it near a pizza oven was a fantastic idea. .

You need heat and rice. The heat will cause the water to evaporate and find it's way outside the phone body. Put the phone in a ziplock-sandwhich size is fine, fill with rice, put bag in the sun. No hair dryers-too hot. In the sun is fine for a day or two. If it doesn't' work after 48 hours you are SOOL.

Don't use rice, plastic bags use hair blower. If you don't believe me put wet item in zip bag with rice and see how slowly it will dry up. Then blow hot air on another wet item and see how quickly it dries.

Sure, easy to test. Wet your hair and stick your head in a bowl of rice. See if it is dry after a couple of hours....

A hair dryer only takes a few minutes.

yeah and you wait 24 hrs with iphone wet inside stupid bag of rice 80% of time the iPhone is unrepairable. it needs to dry out within first couple hrs or motherboard inside is trashed.
