Hey i know you have to be 18 to buy one on contract, but can you be 17 and buy an iphone yourself at full retail price no contract?

I don't think you have to be 18 to buy a contract phone, you just pay a really high security deposit.

Even if you're not the primary account holder for your phone service? Im pretty sure i read somewhere 18 is required to buy one on contract.. ?

Of course.

Lmao some ppl here r saying yu gota be 18 to buy one NON contract yet other ppl lik yu say yu do..

What is it lol

Are you in the US or UK or what?

In the UK I'm under the impression that as long as you have a payment method (a debit card, at age 16) you'll be able to buy the phone from Apple. Not so sure about carriers.

yes aslong as your money is there you will be fine.. you cant sign a contract unless you have someone co-sign it though... you can just use a payasyougo sim though :D

You have to be 18 to sign a contract however... and typically phone companies run credit checks, so getting a cell phone contract at 18 could even be difficult.

Maybe i'm missing something, but they won't be selling unlocked phones until later.

Meaning that you will have to have an account with one of the providers in order to buy the phone in the first place. As these devices are (supposedly) carrier locked and "no-commitment", but you still have to have a plan in place to buy them, AFAIK.

But the best idea is to call and find out.
