Traditionally Apple has had a Macbook lineup ranging from 11 and going up with 13, 15 and ending with the beast at 17".

Now we no longer have the 11 inchers and the 13 has upgraded to 14 and 15 to 16. Thanks to smaller bezels we don't really feel
that the display upgrades hurt the body or weight dimensions of the devices.

So hypothetically speaking would an 18" (that replaces the 17" devices) interest you? Here are the speculation filled specifications to help
you decide better. I personally would buy it solely for the sweet display.

It would obviously be an M1 Max only device, and also have an M1 Extreme option with a 16 core / 64 core configuration.

2008 MBP 15 (early 2008) (middle) - identical in size to the 16" M1
2010 MBP 17 (bottom)

No way 18" is way too big. The 17" is like some 7.7lbs I recall. But I lugged it around like it was my iPhone.

Definitely not, but I wouldn't buy a 15" either unless it was the only one that I could get that was fast enough.

No way. The size would interest me, but not the weight and especially the price. I definitely do not need all this power, but I would certainly benefit from the screen size. By the way, I have just bought an LG Gram 17, which has a 17-inch display and a much lighter body for a much lower price, and it seems to fully satisfy my laptop needs.

That's just a configuration I chose to display. Ideally it should start at $3299 with 10/16 and 16Gb/1TB model.

Okay, 16", but I was talking laptops in general, not just Apple's, so a 15" is real too...
In all likely hood the next gen Macbooks could fit 15" in the same body size as the newly released 14". They just need razor thin bezels and under display cameras.

I believe the original 17” PowerBook G4 debuted at $3,299 in 2003. That said, I don’t think an 18” MacBook Pro would be received well, unless they make it as sleek & svelt as possible - a.k.a. thinner than the 14” & 16”. I don’t know if that can be accomplished. It would need to be closer to a tray table than a giant slab. The 16” seems to be the outter limits as far as size goes.

Still too expensive at $700 more than the base 16-inch MacBook Pro. I am not paying this much for a laptop. Please note that I live in Brazil and the base MacBook Pro which sells for $2499 in the U.S. costs $6000 here. A $3299 laptop would translate to something in the range of $7800 here in Brazil (this is the actual local price of a 16-inch MacBook Pro configured to cost $3299 in the U.S.), which would be pretty much unjustifiable.

In any case, an LG Gram 17 costs some $1600 and a Dell XPS 17 sells for $1800, both equipped with an 11th gen Intel processor. And they both have the advantage of being lighter than a possible 18-inch MacBook Pro.

I definitely do not need the CPU or GPU power of the M1 Pro/Max processor and I do not swallow Apple's inflated prices for RAM and storage. Also, I already think that the new MacBook Pros are bulky and heavy and I would like something considerably lighter.

So, basically, I would like an 18-inch screen, and I would also see the benefit of a MiniLED 120Hz display and of better speakers and camera, but on a different laptop. Should LG release an LG Gram 18 or Apple decide to launch an 18-inch MacBook Air, then I would gladly consider taking a look, provided that prices are not out of this world. However, I would pass on an 18-inch MacBook Pro.

I think 16" is borderline big enough for a laptop, any bigger you should get an iMac or a monitor. Since portability is pretty hard on the new 16", at least for me when comparing it to the 2018 15".

I was just cleaning up my photo library & came across this pic from 2013 of my 17" MacBook Pro with the anti-glare screen. It'd be very interesting if Apple offered the anti-glare option again. The nano-texture finish is probably not suitable for MacBooks though. I got this in April 2009 & used it through April 2013. This computer travelled everywhere with me, as well as to work every day, for years.

I think the day they make an 18" or larger laptop is the day they will sell it for the max out spec of $9,999+

Don't hold your breath for long because it will happen. Trillion $ company selling the first $10k laptop.

No leaks. After releasing a 16.2-inch model which is heavier than its two predecessors, I think the chances of Apple releasing a larger model are very low.
Very low, but never zero. I for one believe it would be hyped af, if Apple decides to release it. Maybe I should send this screenshot to Jon Pressor. Who knows, how that turns out. But yeah the market for an 18" isn't huge.

Yes, who knows what can happen?

Oddly, Apple sells the iPad in four different sizes. I suppose it could offer one or two additional sizes for the MacBook line.

That said, the market for an 18-inch model would be very small indeed. And I suppose it could cannibalize sales of the 16-inch model. I am not sure it would make sense for Apple to launch such a model, as the potential customers of an 18-inch MacBook Pro are probably going to buy the 16-inch version (also considering that there is no feasible 18-inch alternative among Windows laptops).

Not just 16", it would eat into iMacs top end as well. But it's fine as long as people buy a product from Apple's lineup right?

I wouldn’t even buy a 16” 2021 MBP. I just bought a 14” because the 16” is to big and fat and heavy for mobile use. Far bulkier than my 2019 16” which really pushed the limits for weight imo.

A 12” in the other hand? Yes please!!
