Why do sport band colors add weight?

Well, here's my theory. Maybe the lighter the color, the denser the material they chose so it wouldn't absorb dirt. The black one can be soft and light without picking up dirt. The white one needs to be harder, less porous, meaning it's denser.

I don't know.

Nice theory. If true, this is yet another example of how attentive they are. No other company would vary the density of the bands.
I love finding out these little details.
 
or maybe they just needed something fill the marketing gaps. e.g. they have four lines to fill
