A significant number of users have turned to Twitter and other social networks to voice their frustration that Retina MacBook in-store stock and display models at many Apple Stores in the United States and other launch countries are nowhere to be found. MacRumors has independently confirmed that the Retina MacBook will be limited to online purchases in many locations around the world at launch.

A spot check of several Apple Stores in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom resulted in us being given the same response about Retina MacBook stock being unavailable at each location, at least on launch day. April 10 is already an eventful day for Apple as Apple Watch pre-orders and in-store try-on appointments became available at 12:01 AM Pacific, so it is possible the MacBook is not a priority right now.

Retina MacBook shipping times also slipped especially quick out of the gate, with custom configured models available to ship in 3-4 weeks from the moment orders became available, and gold stock models following shortly thereafter. Apple's new 12-inch MacBook starts at $1,299 and features an ultra-thin design, one USB-C port, redesigned keyboard with an all-new butterfly mechanism, Force Touch trackpad, fanless architecture and all-day battery life.

Wow disappointing, while I'm not a fan of the product, I did want to check it out.

boy, nothing but massive delays. I can't complain, I would rather them make something high quality vs. something rushed. I guess 4-6 weeks will be worth the wait..

To me, Apple was not clear on this or the Apple Watch's availability.

Saying "available on 4/10/15" leads many (most) people to think you can actually get one, not just preorder.

I hope my store still has a model on display that I can check out when I go in for my watch appointment

They never said the watch was going to be available on 4/10, it's always been the preorder date.

Didn't they just say "shipping" on that date?

Still, would've liked them to give a realistic date/month for when we could actually get our hands on them. Dare I say, a pre-Jobs move.

I've heard they are bring the stores and online together finally, so if you buy something on line you can have it replaced/refunded in a store.

It is for their own good.
An impulsive shopper is for Apple another refurb rMacBook in 14 days or less.

This new Mac is not for everyone.

They should still have display units out, but I wouldn't go near an Apple Store for at least a week, maybe two!

Yeah it will be cray busy with people wanting to see/touch the watch. Good point on the display units.

London Regent Street none in stock, none for display... What a joke. So I got the new 13" :D
See you in 3 years MacBook...

I didn't ask about stock levels, but there were display models in my local store. Really fine piece of engineering, I'm half hoping my current MacBook Air mysteriously bricks itself ...

Apple doesn't want anything taking the spotlight off the watch.

If that's what they're worried about I don't think they would have announced the two at the same time and launched them so close together. They could have just launched the refreshed MBA and MBP, and held off on the New MB until until summer.

Might be me, but this whole launch strikes me as a little lacklustre owing to the extremely limited supply of either new device. At least with the iPhone launches, the go-getters had a good chance. It'll be the whole summer before anyone can get a watch now, and that's the season for fitness in many places. As for the new MacBook, I'm sorta disappointed. I was going to head out to see it today to make up my mind about it. Seems I need to wait longer on that too. Meh.

My mistake. I just kept seeing "available" on their marketing ads for the MacBook and assumed..
