I did a little digging with Google and MRoogle to see if anyone has attempted to install 1866MHZ RAM in a 2011 MBP, but did find anything really concrete.
So wondering if anyone has attempted it and if so did the MBP pro dumb it down to 1600MHz or did it accept the 1866MHz? I know Sandy Bridge can run the 1866MHz but did the Apple software allow it?

The mobile Sandy Bridge processors only run up to 1600mhz RAM.

Check out the links. Even the high end mobile SB processors only support up to 1600mhz.
That's not to say they won't accept 1866mhz RAM sticks, they just won't run it above 1600mhz.

    EDIT:
It may be recognized at 1866mhz, doesn't mean it runs at full speed. Again, Intel themselves list 1600mhz as highest supported in mobile SB chips, so unless they purposefully locked it down...

If you look at the Newegg link and click the feedback tab, you'll notice that people are reporting significant improvements on macs as well..... until they start crashing :) Seems like the memory will work, but not without consequences hehe.

I have a 2011 17" MBP running 1867 Ram, and it is running as 1867. It has not crashed on me and has been very stable. It is the first thing I did when I received the laptop.
