I just went over and picked up the iMac CPU for a moment. God, there is no way I'm strapping that thing on my back. Mein Gott in Himmel! :(

No, I would not think that an iMac would be considered a "portable" computer.

That said, I wonder if I can use my Power Mac G5 as a laptop....might be a pound or two too heavy though... ;) :)

That crap looks like crap.....the screen is not big enough;)

No, it should be at least 20 inches.

And yes, that crap does look like crap....oh well, it is a PC after all. :)

wow, 19" screen on a laptop? huge! I remeber old laptops from like 1990 still beat this thing in weight, but in todays world, i never thought i'd see a laptop heavier than 10 pounds!

It was bound to happen sooner or later:

"This may be the biggest notebook computer you would ever want to carry around. If you thought a 17" notebook display was huge, think again: Ibuypower has begun offering a laptop system with a 19" screen. The devices comes with two Nvidia GeForce graphics cards running in SLI mode and weighs a record-breaking 20 pounds."

Not including the battery!

Thats fine. Not like you'd need the battery, it probably only lasts about 3 minutes anyways

Wow that's not bad! If you carry it enough you can almost work out with it.

Oh don't be so pessimistic- I am sure that it could get at least 10, maybe 15 minutes of battery life. ;) :D

Is this really news? Samsung brought out a 19" laptop with a detachable screen last year. Anyone taking a stroll up the Tottenham Court Road in London in the last few months will have seen it by now.

Just imagine the fans and heat on that thing. I have a 2 and a half year old 17" toshiba P4 notebook (yeah, I know, stupid purchase; gathers dust while I use my ibook) and the fans basically never turn off. And it has a small, cool videocard; not the two monstrositites in this one.

This seems like the worst idea ever. Sure, you can bring it with you (might want to bulk up with some weights first), but I would never call that thing "portable" by any means.

As the post above this says, I can't imagine the heat/noise that's going to come from it. I like the fact that the computer wasn't on in the video. If it was, I'm sure it would have been screaching like a beast.

just out of stupidity...
could you tape a UPS (uninteruptible power suply) and a keyboard to an imac and call it a portaple? I mean it cant weigh much more than that thing, and it will look pritier, have a bigger screen, and UPS's are designed to give a minimum of 30mins backup juice so the battery life would be better aswell.

lol:)

I suppose that you might be able to go and do that....not sure how well it would work though. ;) :)

This is basically an iMac with a fold-out keyboard and battery, then?

not really interested in something that big. i think 12" is perfect for a laptop. a 19" would be nice if it were always at home, but i wouldn't tkae it anywhere...
