If you could only have three widgets on your Mac what would they be?

Been running Tiger for a couple of months now but have resisted using widgets until now...

So feel free to recommend to me your personal top 3 widgets; indispensable ones, fun ones, whatever. But you're limited to just three... explanations on why they're so fab would be nice too.

Please help me expand my widget world, thanks. :)

Note: Any nifty ones that may have a graphics/design usage kinda slant earn extra brownie points. ;)

1. AirTrafficControl, super useful for finding WiFi spots
2. MonkeyBusiness Labs' Package Tracker, for tracking packages ;)
3. RadarInMotion, quicker than using WUnderground

I have a few that I really love, but you said three... so I'll have to list my more boring widgets that I truly use all the time.

  1. Weather widget (standard): I love the quick access to the forecast! I have one for my local area, and another one for where my boyfriend lives. :p
  2. Calculator widget (also standard): Do I really need to put an explanation? I suck at math-- no matter how simple the calculation. There.
  3. Stickies widget (again, standard): Great for a quick copy and paste of links or whatnot. And simple lists.
I know. I'm so boring.

Never been a fan of Widgets; they just seem to clutter up my screen. Of the two that I do/did use (therefore = my favourites):

World Clock Pro
Wi Fi Signal

I've just replaced World Clock Pro with JetClock that gives me 5 world times in a drop-down from the menu bar.

Sorry. I suspect this is not of much help! :)

1. Dictionary widget - to look up English words I don't know, obviously :)
2. Converter widget - to communicate with the non-standard compliant Americans
3. Calculator widget - if I need to calculate something simple

1. Weather Widget (standard) I love that thing.
2. Day Countdown. 6 days until my PowerBook is one year old, 19 days until prom, 33 days until graduation. :D
3. FOXTROT! I wouldn't read it if it weren't on my screen.
actually, I think dictionary and foxtrot are tied. I use the dictionary one like a bandit, but if I were only allowed three, I would just open dictionary.app.

Yeah, Dictionary would be the next widget I would list.

Not boring... Sensible. Like sensible shoes. :D :p

Honestly though, it's useful for a novice like me.

The superman returns countdown because it is important to me and reminds me to remember to ask for that day off.
The weather one - because it is truly useful...especially in the event I don't want to turn my head 30 degrees to look out the giant window next to me.
and the stock widget...so I can see just when I will go completely broke. it helps me remember that i need to keep my job because i can't depend on the stock market to make me a wealthy woman.

1. Dictionary - easier than the Dictionary.app, but not that much easier...
2. Unit Converter - easier than using Calculator.app, but not that much easier... [do you sense where this is heading? ;)]
3. iCal Events - I like MenuCalendarClock better...

So, I've actually come to the conclusion that Dashboard is a waste of CPU cycles and disabled it all together (even though the three above mentioned widgets were nice and useful)... ;)

My three picks would be...

Weather
Not the standard Apple one, but the BBC Weather version, which I find to be a little more accurate for us UKers.

World Clock
The default Apple version – I have a couple of these running for different parts of the world. It's useful when I'm online and IMing, or here on MacRumors, so I know what time of the day people are at.

Calculator
Not the most daring of choices I grant you, but it's one of the Widgets I turn to the most. What it lacks in excitingness it more than makes up for in usefulness.

Off-topic ... but how can this thread shows 7 replies but only 1 view?
The site apparently tracks all of my multiple personalities and only shows views from different people.

My three as well, although I might swap the standard Weather widget in for Package Tracker (depends on if I have stuff coming), and Panic's Transmit widget is also in the running.

Very good point - some people don't realize that you can have many of the same widget up at one time.

Here's my top three:

Weather: to be reminded how nice it is here in the south of France, and feel sorry for my family back in the States

Translator: for quick phrases in French that I'm too lazy to look up in a dictionary

#1 Widget is...ImageShack: It makes uploading pictures to MacRumors much easier. It's really handy and easy to use. I like the drag, hit F12, drag onto widget functionality.

my top three:

weather widget- humorously enough, it's one of the reasons i really wanted to buy tiger

calculator widget- a lifesaver for my accounting classes this year

dashblog- makes posting entries to my blogger.com-hosted blog a breeze...

The ones I use most at the moment...

1. The weather widget (with various instances open)
2. The Unit Convertor (my Powerbook came baking with me one day!)
3. The Album Art widget since it looks up songs with no art and I can add it to my iTunes library with one click.

But most of the others listed above are pretty useful too. The only other ones I use regularly that haven't been mentioned are a personalised countdown widget and a Photo widget that pulls random shots out of an iPhoto album onto a 'polaroid'.

Calculator-help with my homework

Macrumors widget-Lets me see MacRumors Headlines when i'm not on MR, or when i'm in dahboard

Stock Widget-See how Apple and Google are doing
