3 different passwords with a total of over 30 characters, not real words.
You can customized the password. iCloud Keychain does xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx and that's it. Some sites will only let use numbers and letters, so the suggested password from iCloud will not work for theses sites because it has characters in the password.
Bold: Erm, no, you don't seem to know it IS possible to create long passwords in Keychain Access, also complete random ones.
See below;
I use 18 chars at minimum. I just hate how some sites max you out at 8 or 10.
But how much more so? Apple won't exactly have the easiest servers to get in, although we do of course have our governments to contend with. But they're not likely themselves to pilfer my credit card details.
Facts are, I haven't yet found a story where someone has had their data compromised and iCloud Keychain has been the source of the problem.
Don't get me wrong, I love that 1P is cross-platform. That's a big draw for me, and I love what these guys do and how seriously they take their customers' privacy/security. But I won't support their policy of essentially paying for updates that simply add compatibility. Of course, other things change too, but not by any measure that I as a consumer consider them worth paying to upgrade for.
Am I crazy to think $34.99 on a Mac for a password utility is overpriced severely? And $9.99 on iOS?
What? This is no different than Adobe charging for a new edition of Photoshop or Microsoft charging if you want to buy the latest edition of Office.
Since when is a software company supposed to give all its users unlimited updates forever because they bought one version in the past? Software companies wouldn't even be able to survive with that business model.
So they cut the price on both iOS (free upgrade to the iOS8 version)
but will it be free to upgrade to the next OS X version as well or has that always been the case? Since the OS X app is a lot more expensive I'd like to know for sure before I make the jump.
Thank you!
I think you confuse new features with OS compatibility. I bought Office Mac 2011 and it gets updates until today. If 1Password wants to make new features, they can make it as an option via in-app purchase, but they should make their basic selling point of storing password compatible with future OS.
If you can read what has been written here, 1Password gets "updated" every 2 years. So if the last chargeable upgrade was in 2012, next one might be around the corner. Yes, you will get free compatibility update with of 1Password 4, but should 1Password 5 becomes available later this year, you will have to pay.
I just gave Mac app a free trial. First impression great, works fantastic with browsers extension for basic websites but after 1Password 4 Mac's Safari extension has changed my banking password to... OTP PIN code I have uninstalled it immediately. I really don't need bells and whistles if they are not properly implemented and application cannot properly recognize one time pin vs password that was already entered on the same page.
For the one time pin situation, all you need to do is this:
* Open the website and goto the login page
* Type in your username and password
* Leave the OTP field empty
* Save the login using this method:
http://learn2.agilebits.com/1Password4/Mac/en/KB/saving-logins-manually.html
* Edit the login after saving and change the "Submit" option to "Never"
Now when you fill into the page it will fill the username and password and leave the OTP field empty so you can fill it in and click the Login button when needed.

What I meant is that I had inserted banking details into 1Password 4 Mac before I tried to login to the bank. Autofill of login/password worked propery but then once I input OTP, the Safari's extension proposed me to update (?) the password, which I did thinking I didn't write it down in the app properly or something. It then has overwritten my current, proper password with OTP code...
How long is the free trial for windows?
I keep seeing that 1Password syncs using either iCloud or Dropbox. I don't use either. Right now I use One Drive and may return to SugarSync.
Anyway to sync with another cloud based storage system?
Will 1Password work on sites that don't allow automatic fill in of passwords like banks? I know keychain won't. And on the same note, I have a bank that requires double logins. Can 1Password handle 2 step verification?

It's not that I don't understand that they need money every year or two, which is fine, but I would like to know if there is an update coming up soon. I'd rather pay more for the next version than to get a discount for a version that is soon to be obsolete.
That said... is 1Password guaranteed to be compatible with OSX 10.10 Yosemite?

Not for iOS. Sorry, I should have said on iOS (iPad/iPhone).
I only use and iPad and iPhone, I have a Mac Mini, but that is just for out media stuff (movies, pictures, music, and back stuff up).

Yes, I know, and that wasn't the point. When the iCloud Keychain gives you a random generated password, it will have characters in it using iOS. There are websites that will not take characters. There are people like me that uses an iPad as a primary devise for web browsing (and on the Mac I do have, I don't have Mavericks installed to do this to customize a password). And that was the point. On iOS, it'll still store whatever password you put, so you can simply make one up and let it remember that. It's not significantly more secure to randomly generate one.
