Hi All! I work for AgileBits, just popping in to answer a few of the questions here. We keep an eye on these types of posts as best we can to make sure we can help however we can.

How long until Apple take this off the App Store, I wonder? ;)

There's no reason it should be taken off the App Store. They've approved the app several times now and we've been on the App Store for years.

Way too expensive and why does it have a 17+ rating? I seen apps that were offensive with a 4+ rating. A example was a hip hop music app with the f word clearly in the title yet it has a 4+ rating. Even Google search app has a 4+ rating.

I will not buy it even if it was cheap for that reason because if the irritating popup saying if I am 17 years or older. I am 35 and my iTunes account should know by my birthdate.

Still $18 is a ripoff. I only bought one app the most $10. Then if Apple pulls it you are left with a expensive app with no updates.

The built in browser requires 17+ rating. If you look at other browsers in the App Store (Chrome, Atomic Web Browser, and many others) they're all 17+. This is because the browser can goto any webpage. It's not something we can change. Sorry!

See the above mention, it's extremely unlikely it'll be removed from the App Store. It's been on there for years.

As for the price. We certainly feel it is worth the price. We provide full support and do our very best to make our users happy. You're welcome to contact us via email (see the signature link for details) and we can happily answer any questions you have prior to purchasing or after if you have any trouble at all along the way.

However, AgileBits has yet to update their OS X client. They've been "in development" for a loooong time, but it seems they're more focused on their iOS product. 1Password 4.0 for OS X may be a long way out, and won't be a free upgrade, which has many dissatisfied for ponying up cash only to have to buy it again (App Store doesn't allow "upgrade" pricing). Their OS X app is long in the tooth, could use iCloud syncing, better browser integration, etc.

We're working on the OS X app. We're a very small team and it's definitely not easy to put out apps of this complexity without time :) We hope to have the Mac application out to our users as soon as we possibly can.

For what it's worth, all users that purchased from the Mac App Store will get a free upgrade to version 4. So, there's no need for the App Store to have upgrade pricing options.

There's also a banner on our website store saying any purchases made from a certain point forward will receive a free upgrade to version 4. We'll do our best to accommodate our users.

It used to be my fav, but since they removed local wi-fi syncing in version 4 these upgrades do not mean so much to me. I want my home syncing back as an option. I do not use Dropbox nor Cloud for such a private info to be flying around.

We removed local wi-fi syncing because it was just not a good user experience. We always hear from users who thought it was great and it worked fine for them. For these users, we certainly understand that it doesn't seem like it was a bad user experience, but to the majority of our users it broke frequently, it wasn't easy to setup and a lot of these were things we couldn't fix. It often came down to network configurations and network hardware. It just wasn't an easy fix.

We heard from users like yourself and we released a local USB sync in place of the wifi option. You can read more about it here

Instructions on how to get it running are here.

Do note that it is a beta, but many users are using it without any issues at all. Most of what is beta about it is related to the interface and initial setup. We hope to improve this before releasing it as a real 1.0 release.

That sucks, I didn't even realize that I wasn't using the current version of ios 1password.

Aparently I bought mine a few months before the current revision was released and upgrades aren't free or discounted.

Using 1password Pro 3.7.2

It's not the price so much is that I don't trust Apple as they always pulling apps. I don't want to spend big bucks on a app and then the dictators at Apple decide it voilates something then they pull it. At least with a app that cost $1 it is not much loss.

See my previous reply above, too. We've been on the store in some variation or another for years. We're on version 4. There's nothing in 1Password that would cause it to be removed. We only use approved APIs and we're not doing anything that Apple says not to. We're following the rules pretty closely and users really shouldn't worry about this.

I hope that helps, but if you have any questions please shoot us an email (see my signature link) and we'll be happy to answer anything else you are concerned with.

Good news, thanks for taking the time in responding to our concerns. The last time I checked there were concerns regarding pricing for the 4.0 OS X app. I'm glad to know I'll be able to upgrade once it's released. :)

1Password Mac App is $49.99, iOS App is $17.99.
OneSafe Mac App $12.99 (was $5.99), iOS App is $5.99.

You can get both Mac and iOS OneSafe app for the price of the iOS 1Password app. Yes it offers more and to some they might use and need those features, but for basic password protection and cloud syncing service between all your devices, OneSafe is fantastic.

I used 1Password for iOS and Mac for years, but since I was going to have to repurchase both apps for Mac and iOS in order to get the latest updates, I looked for an alternative and found one.

My pleasure. We always do our best to help our users. It's not always possible to make everyone happy but we certainly try.

We really enjoy what we do and the worst thing in our eyes is not being able to continue making 1Password great.

I researched a lot and had 1Password on my short list but just couldn't justify the expense. pwSafe was wayyyy cheaper when buying it for iPhone, iPad, and OSX and just as secure.

When there's so many alternatives available I find it hard to believe that 1Password is worth the premium it charges.

Since LastPass meets all my needs, works on all my devices, and is $12 for the Premium version...it's great for me.

For someone seemingly obsessed with price tag, one would think you'd notice the difference between "$12" and "a subscription that works out to $12 per year".

Thanks for the fine tuning.:D

As far as my "obsession with price tag"...not so much. If I have created that impression, let me disabuse you of that notion. I am more than willing to pay for that which meets my needs.

LastPass meets my needs.

At the risk of sounding defensive, take a look at the "Espresso Enthusiast" thread to evaluate my willingness to pay for that which meets my needs.:D;)

In oneSafe, it seems that you can export and import from your desktop app via wi-fi home network? Is that working? Can you confirm that please?
Thanks

This Application must cost $99!! anyone that says it's not worth the $17.99 don't have a clue how extremely useful this Application is. I use it since version 2 on the Mac and any paid update is worth the money.

Very secure and portable. I run 1Password 100 times a day on iPad, iPhone and Mac. This is not a Toy App!!

1Password for OSX and iOS - easily one of the best software purchases I have ever made. Works great! I for one have no problem paying someone for something that I use everyday and works extremely well. Thank you AgileBits!

1Password is hands down the most valuable piece of software I have ever purchased. It's saved me from the burden of remembering passwords for the hundreds of accounts that I have. Its given me peace of mind, knowing that I have unique, secure passwords for all of my accounts, all because I know that I don't have to remember them all. It's saved me hours of typing login credentials (no kidding, with the amount I use this program, it adds up to hours).

The only program that has given me even remotely comparable value is Adobe Creative Suite, and that's only because I use it for my profession. Even still, it cost me 50 times more than 1Password did.

Kyle, keep up the good work. Your app is solid. Took some time to decide to cough out the money for it. But you do pay for quality. Have OS X app as well. Waiting for iCloud syncing. Also would be nice if the app was smarter in naming the websites. (ie instead of secure.newegg.com just Newegg.com etc)

1Password was and is one of the best investments I made

I love this app. Got it on my iPad, iPhone and mac pro and don't regret one bit investing in it.

Before 1password, I would re-use the same passwords / usernames all over the place, because it was just easier than memorizing separe logins to all the sites i've registered with throughout the many years of being on the net. I would have to write down passwords and hide them (just in case I forgot). The problem was that sometimes I hid them too well and I could not even find some of those hidden passwords scattered all over the place.

I recently looked at all the passwords I now have saved and I could not imagine keeping track of all those unique passwords without something like 1password.

This App has been in the App Store for 3 years. it's the first App you must install on any clean iOS or Mac install. Apple know this App is very important to people.

Import/Export what exactly? The only import/export buttons I see involve backups.

Don't worry, you're not alone.

AG Kyle - could you look at updating the app so that you can have the option to change it to UK. I don't think this would take long to do at all, and would make it a lot easier for uk users as currently I have to delete the US fields and replace them with the uk ones.

Just that the app seems very tailored to the US when a lot of customers are from other countries.

Me too. Actually I don't really mind if I can't get a free upgrade because I know it's the major update so you have to pay for the new version.

But the most annoying is they even pull the old version (1password3) out of the Appstore with the reason that they afraid customers will be confused which app they should buy.

Thank you but NO. I used to be a fan of 1Password both in Mac and iPhone but I don't think 1password is the trustable app anymore.

Try to imagine if you waste your $18 and in next 3 months they release 1password5 and force you to buy the mew version instead of let you download the old one in case you need to.

You can re-download old version from the list of your Purchased apps.

Yes I know that. But there are more than thousands apps that I purchased and as far as I know the only way to search for purchased app is scrolling down the screen. (If there is other easier way please tell ne maybe I miss out something.)

So you knew that your comment about inability to download old version of 1Password was false yet you still made it? Trolling much?

You have the following options:

1) Bite the bullet and scroll a list of 1000 apps (it might become smaller if you will hide apps that are already on your phone). You only need to do it once!

2) Use iTunes to reinstall the app (same list but with much less scrolling on a Mac/PC).

3) Use iTunes to trim the list of purchased apps by hiding the ones you no longer need (that's what I did - my list went from 700 to about 150). Hide apps that are no longer supported, apps that you've tried but decided not to use, free versions of apps bought later, irrelevant apps for past events, crapps, etc (you can always unhide them later, should you change your mind).

Basically I find it hard to fault AgileBits - they did everything right.
