Hello,

My wife still has her 1st gen iPad Mini that still works nicely. Only problem is that we can't seem to activate iCloud syncing with Notes. She uses a 2015 MacBook Pro as her main computer, and iCloud already works with the Calendar app.

But even though Notes on her Mac is already activated and working with iCloud (we can see those notes on the icloud.com website), I just can't seem to activate it on the mini. When I activate it in the general preferences (switching the little button on), it asks for another email address and forces me to select a icloud.com one.

Any tips?

Could it be because the iPad mini 1 is so slow on the latest firmware it can run?

The iPad is on iOS 9, the latest version it can use.

Speed isn't an issue, just a working iCloud.

I do appreciate your feedback, I really do. Im just saying that maybe it would be best if you ignore me.

We are getting really off topic. Please private message me if you'd like to talk further.

Well, despite all of this, Notes just won't sync...

Anyone else with ideas or explanations?

There was a version of Notes which had certain functionality. The next version added Tables and you had to upgrade the version of Notes to get that functionality. I think that you lost access to your notes if you then used a device that didn't upgrade. I have an iPad Mini 2 which runs the latest version of Notes with no problems - although it is slow.

Hello,

When I activate it in the general preferences (switching the little button on), it asks for another email address and forces me to select a icloud.com one.

If she has iCloud she should have an iCloud.com email address, so can't you just use that? Me.com and Mac.com are the same thing, just the older domain name.

I have a Mini 1, not used it for a while (a couple months), but fairly certain it still syncs my Notes, I use my name@icloud.com email as the login.
