Hi All,

There are dozens of 2nd gen pencil alternatives on Amazon and elsewhere, but I can’t find a first gen unless I buy the actual Apple brand for 99 bucks.

Can anyone recommend something that is available at a reasonable price?

Thanks,
R

very confused there are no 3rd party Pencils of either gen outside of the crayon.

There are a few dozen. In fact my daughter bought one on amazon that works great with my newer Ipad Pro 11"... The pencil 2nd gen is very common.

And they are not capacitive...they are the real thing. Have you looked on Amazon?

Oh wow - never mind, my apologies I see what you mean - looks like they are using the Crayon technology somehow since they work with non iPad Pro models - do they use and on/off switch?

Yup, but they charge with a usb c to the middle of the pencil...at least that is how the one I have works.

Wow, so everyone spent $100 on the Apple Pencil 1st gen.... makes $700 wheels seem somewhat reasonable. :)

We pay for QUALITY. If you want to waste your time and money on a cheap 3rd party stylus knock yourself out. A word of warning, there will be a day when your stylus inevitably craps out or explodes. You'll wish you just paid the $100 for the real thing. ;)

Well, an exploding pencil would be bad, but 3 failures could be acceptable for the same price. :)

Anyhow, message received.

Thanks,
R
