I have a 1st Generation Macbook Air, 64GB SSD. We got it off Craigslist for very cheap, but it has some issues.
First off, the sound doesn't work at all. Not a big deal, but if repairing it is and option, we will probably do it. So how would be go about repairing it? In the audio settings, no output it shown.
Second, the Wifi has some issues. It can detect networks, but won't connect to them. It just sits there trying to connect. I don't know if it's a software problem or not, but I am restoring it right now, so it will probably work after.

And third, I wanted to put OSX Lion on it, but I see threads about it not being able to run Lion, and overheating badly. So would Lion be safe to put on?

    It's a MacBook Air 1,1; Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz;2GB RAM;64GB SSD (I think).

    Thanks. :D

    MacBook and lion

I have exactly the same mabookmas you and Lion runs really well on it. I have noticed the fan is on a little more often but no overheating issues, but its little different to snow leopard in the fan runtime perspective. I make a point of keeping the laptop on the table though, sitting in bed on the duvet it can get very hot.

Regarding the sound module, when I replaced the thermal past on the CPU heats ink I noticed that it is a completely separate module under the arrow keys, you can probably find a replacement if it's that module that has malfunctioned.

Well, the wifi issue is weird.
I did a clean install of Snow Leopard, wifi worked fine, speakers still broken. Probably the audio flex cable, seems like a fairly common issue.
But, I used the update utility, and it successfully updated to 10.6.8. Now the Wifi doesn't work, same issue as before. It says 'Connection time out."
Is there a know fix for this, or will Lion fix it?
