I will be getting my 3G on Monday. I have a 2G on my line now. When I sync for the first time will Mobile Me push everything down to my 3G. I am assuming that it realizes that this is a empty phone and won't erase what is on Mobile Me. Is this correct. 950 customer names are at stake here.

You don't even need to sync really; mobile me will push the contacts down to the phone. When I bought my 3G, I had to go straight to work. I added my Mobile Me account to the phone, and a little while later, all my contacts were there. Of course, once I got home and restored my 2G backup, it doubled all my contacts, calendar entries, etc, so I had to flip it around a bit to sort it out.
Basically, don't add the MM account to the phone right away; go home and restore your backup of your old phone and you'll be good to go.
