iPod touch 2.0 Free?

Im getting the firmware free, has it happen to some of you?
 
me too! I purchased my touch in February 08

I hit Check for Update yesterday (11th - July 4:40pm Swiss Time) and it offered the 2.0 upgrade. No mention of a cost. though who knows, I might find a bill on my itunes account soon....

I suspect a mistake/special-offer by Apple, because I was expecting to pay
 
Yes this happened to me yesterday. I would have been quite happy to pay too.
 
I got my pod a little over a week ago and I have to return my iMac.... I also am expected to pay for 2.0 according to iTunes.
 
You might want to view your account and check your Purchase History. I thought the same thing, but see the charge for $9.95.

BTW, I picked up my iPod in May 2008.
 
Yeah I just realized it didn't mention a price at all... maybe for us people who already bought $60 in apps they decided not to charge?

I guess if I see a charge, I wouldn't be unhappy at all. Happy it all works now and I don't have to wear out my thumb.

And yes, I checked my purchases, there's nothing.
 
Yesterday a bunch of people were able to upgrade without any mention of a price. It seemed to be some sort of bug in the system, either that happened to you or more commonly you just couldn't upgrade at all, then everything started working the way it was supposed to last night. I was able to get it for free too.

Well that sucks! Not for you, I'm glad some are getting a ligit copy for free.

What I don't understand is how someone who picked up an ipod touch last year gets it for free and someone who has one less than 2 months old had to pay? Something is missing here.... did you pay for the $20 update at the first of the year?

Nope, I guess im lucky, im actually planning to stay with this ipod for more than a year, has bring surprises to me and its sexy.
 
My iPod Touch is 2nd week out (week 38, and I'm still surprised it survived that hurricane slamming into China) back in Sept and I did not get offered the update free.

I brought my ipod touch this week and it said that it came with Software upgrade and when I connect to iTunes and look under summary I can see 1.1.4 (with software upgrade). When I click on update it asks me to buy it.. What I am doing wrong?

I guess that software upgrade is the January 08 one, that comes with Weather, Maps, Mail, etc.
