Nope. I spent 2hr's downloading it and it bricked my iPod Touch when I installed it. I'm not sure what it is but it seems that only iPhone users have had success installing early releases of the 2.0 firmware.

In essence they do. The 2.0 firmware for the iPod Touch is $9.99 USD and Apple hasn't had much success with that thus far. I wouldn't believe that Apple is prioritizing in maintaining their revenue generating services first. All of Apple's services are equally as important to the experience that Apple want's to deliver to it's customers via the new iPhone 3G and 2.0 firmware for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Don't say stupid thinks before you try to solve them. I've got the 2.0 update, and I don't have problems with it. Just a crash but I waited and it was solved by it self. So avoid stupid comments.

My friend is downloading both, with priority to *345 - he will install that first, since there seems to be no clear answer so far. (We don't know how much we believe the post about the debug stuff in *347 - why would Apple have that on new models then? - they do, right? - but tend to think *345 will get a jailbreak faster)

In the meantime, he's backing up most of the filesystem over the network with AFPd before doing the manual restore to clean 1.1.4 in iTunes and then will manually upgrade, attempting to use the *345 firmware first.

(unless we hear some compelling reason to use the *347 of course)

347 works fine

i downloaded the IPOD update this morning from the xml links and it worked fine. only problem was it wiped out all the files on my touch but that was restored easily. I've downloaded 14 apps, some free and some paid, all over a wifi connection and everything works great. (UPDATE A couple of the applications quit unexpectantly like safari had a tendency to do. one actually restarted my ipod. the offending apps have been removed) the exchange service is perfect. took about 30 seconds to set up and immediately populated. haven't paid yet, but i will, and it's worth every penny.
mobileme works as advertised also. my calender is synched to my touch, macbook pro, and imac, and additions were near instantaneous to all three and the web page.

sell your rim stock.
