So, they've done 2.1, when can we expect 2.1.1? I wanna try out the whole cracking thing

is there any diference between 2.1 and 2.1.1? if not, then we can assume that it's just apple being silly and trying to block jailbreaks.

quick question on the 2.1.1 jailbreak... i thought 1.1.5 was the latest update for the ipod touch? mine says so whenever i check for updates in itunes, or is 2.1.1 referring to the itunes program itself?

1.1.5 = latest update for 1st gen Touch people who have not bought the 2.x update
2.1 = latest update for 1st gen people who have bought the 2.x update
2.1.1 = firmware that ships with the new 2nd gen Touch

Buying 2.x allows you to install apps from the iTunes app store.

as already stated both are for seperate generation ipods, the 2.1.1 firmware wouldn't work on a 1st gen ipod so if you decided to restore a 1st gen ipod to 2.1.1 you may find you will end up with problems.

2.1.1 hasn't been jailbroken yet as the hardware inside the new ipod touch has changed and apple fixed the exploit the dev team found in 1st gen ipods via new hardware.

Is this just the regular 2.1?

Its what I just restored my 1st gen Touch to, but now I cant seem to get the ziphone jailbreak to work on it.

how do i go about putting the jailbreak on it?

that is the 2.1 firmware for 1st gen ipods, ziphone stopped workin after 1.1.4/5, simply cause the creator is an ass and couldn't figure out how to copy the others like he did with ziphone lol. quickpwn is the program to use that or pwnagetool for macs and winpwn for windows

yeh 2.2 is a closed beta no mere mortal can get a direct download link, its no doubt out in the wild and people are using it illegally lol but as of right now unless you pay apple $99 for the devleopers program your not gettin the beta......... unless you stumble across it on the net

We are close...

That is the first Jailbreak iPod of the Touch 2gen. The Jailbreak is unfortunately with hardware interference however so far went everything well the Appstore runs up to now parallel to the Installer without problems. On the Ipod according to standard is the firmware 2.1.1.

andybno1,

Did you have to upgrade your iPod Touch 1st Gen using the Apple 2.1 upgrade before you pwn'd 2.1?

So... I'm guessing if I downgraded to 2.1 from 2.1.1 I'd be able to QuickPWN it right?

no, you cant jailbreak 2nd gen ipod regardless of firmware:rolleyes: the quickpwn process takes advantage of a hardware exploit which doesnt excist in 2nd gen ipods......... which we already covered in this thread

Sorry sorry. I read over the thread but I guess not in its entirety cause I missed that part. Damn, that sucks. Now I have to wait for a new QuickPWN to come out. Any updates on that?
