2.1firmware dowload

I want to dowload forward 2.1 legit .ipsw so I can update a friends phone offline. Like I'm going to be using my iTunes 8. Which I already updated my iPhone to 2.1 on. So I assuming it dowloaded it already correct? And if I plug in his iPhone it should ask me to update without downloading it correct?9

Since you already did the update, iTunes still has the file. It's stored in your_user_name > Library > iTunes > iPhone Software Updates.
