Are you sure you're talking about a jailbreak, or an unlock?

the reason i'm asking is because the 2.2.1 jailbreak has been out for months so i'm sure you would have heard about it. a 2.2.1 unlock (like a new version of yellowsn0w which supports 2.30.03 baseband), however, is not available. Though it is now possible to downgrade basebands to the 2.28 baseband from 2.30.03 provided you've got the right bootloader.

yeah meant unlock. i tried to downgrade basebands but couldn't get it. what bootloader do i need?
 
the bootloader that you need is version 5.8
unfortunately, i have version 5.9 and the downgrade doesn't support that version yet, which is a complete bummer. also, i currently don't know how to downgrade the bootloader!! UGHH!! this is frustrating, if it's not the baseband, it's the damn bootloader!! I might was well just buy a rebel sim card and unlock it that way. saves me a headache & time.
