2.5 mm Adapter?

Most of the threads on this are old/outdated, so I thought I would try again:

I would like to use a wired boom headset for talking on the phone only (no need to listen to music). Most, if not all, wired headsets seem to come with a 2.5 mm jack. There are a few adapters for sale out there, but none of them specifically mention that they would allow functioning of the mic (they all seem to mention music).

I don't need mute button function, etc. I just want to plug in a plain boom headset into my iphone.

Any suggestions?

OK, so no help on using a 2.5 mm adapter.

How 'bout a good quality wired mono headset for calls only? I prefer a device with a boom mic (not a mic dangling from an in-line cord).
