Hi all

Have had a 2009 Mac Pro 5,1 for a while, and put an SSD in there to speed it up a wee bit. Of course, its just hanging in there by the SATA and power interface. I dont see it failing out/breaking any time soon, but its not ideal.

Sled adaptors are available commercially, from as little as £4, and I have seen the original 3D printable design on Printables. Yep, I can print that. But, it does seem a little overkill when all that is really needed - it appears - is two strips with screw hoels for the sled, and screw holes for the SSD

Anyone seen anything like this (yes, Google is my friend but its not having much luck atm), or created something similar?

I use a no-name metal adapter. The Sabrent BK-PCBS is similar.

I've used thicker adapters in the past. Switching to the low-profile types made it possible to install an overly-thick graphics card in Slot #3. It steals some space from the HD bays, which doesn't cause a problem. Provided you either leave bays #2-4 empty, or have low-profile SSD adapters. Bay #1 can still take a fill-sized 3.5" drive.
