Just looked and seen the new v7.1 update. On my iPhone 5s it says needs 2.5Gb of space!!

So rather than delete loads and mess about can you use iTunes to update connected via cable to save OTA update or even if use iTunes so you need 2.5Gb space as well?

Why it needs this much it must be a BIG update, hope it stops safari crashing all the time on all my iDevices...

You can use iTunes and it shouldn't need that much space.

Did you download OTA? That's probably why it was 200mb
OTA for those on 7.0.6 is about 200+ MB, while for those on a 7.1 beta they offer a full install OTA which is 1.4 GB or so (just for the install file, plus extra space to unpack and all that).

On my iPad 4 it was like 200MB - do you happen to be on the beta?

No, he probably just happened to have plenty of space on his device and thus didn't get the error message.

It's ~200-300mb of data over the airwaves to download.

But it needs 1.9GB-2.5GB (depending on device) for unpacking and installation once the download is complete.

Yes, you can use iTunes. You won't lose any data. Plug in and hit the update button.

I understand I can use iTunes but will it still need the space on the actual iDevice. The actual download is 200Mb. I'm. It in beta

You will still need some space on the device, just not 3-4 GB that you would otherwise if you got the full 1.4 GB update OTA.

Nice, I figured this might come out tomorrow. First thing I noticed was that 'Slide to Unlock'...

on topic: I not 100% if I have that much space left on my 16g iP5 but I was able to download OTA just fine...
