I'm looking to buy a new 15" and having trouble deciding between the two levels.

I can get the lower model 2.6 ghz CPU and upgrade to 512 SDD:
  • 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD
  • Radeon Pro 450 with 2GB memory
  • $2600
Or I can get the higher model which comes with 512 SDD standard:
  • 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD
  • Radeon Pro 455 with 2GB memory
  • $2800

It seems like the only difference at this point is 0.1ghz for CPU and Radeon 450 vs 455 but that doesn't seem to justify such a big $200 price difference. Is there something else that's better with the 2.7 ghz model that I'm missing?

I dev too. In my experience memory is more important for example for running virtual machines. Shame that they dont have 32 GB, I hoped for that. So imo not worth it in your case. But it might have a better resell value.
