Well, my 30" display arrived today. I unboxed it and hooked it up to my PowerBook just for grins (well, ostensibly to check for dead pixels, but we're all friends here -- we all know it was just to play with it) and I can't wait until I can actually seriously use it. I'm back on my little Dell display now and the 30" is sitting in the corner mocking me.

Order status still shows "Shipping on or before 4-May" for me, so the wait hopefully won't be too much longer.

*grumble*

As I slept last night, apple pushed back my ship date by nine days. Anyone else seen this? I'm thinking it might be from the graphics card and not from the machine itself.

Bleh. That's nine days of staring at this cinema display that I can't use. The horror!

well after many nights of waiting and refreshing the fed ex tracking webpage for my g5 every five seconds, my powermac has finally arrived. I was awoken by a large knocking at my door by a disgruntled fed ex employee who had to deliver the monstrously huge g5 box to my door. After grabbing the electronic signer and signing my name without surcombing to all the drool that was gathering in my mouth i was able to bring the g5 in my house. My dad gave me looks as to why a computer box was this massive. More details as the opening process begins!

I'm with you. I've been glued to the FedEx site (and the refresh button) for the last 2 days. My 2.3GHz G5 will definitely be arriving this morning. Then, it will have to sit with me at work - ALL day. lol
I received my 23" display yesterday, so you can imagine the agony. However, I hooked it up to my 12" PB and all was good for the rest of the evening. :D

Mine sat on "sent to manufacturing" for a week, then Apple REPLACED my dual 2.3 order with another one exactly like it! Then it was "processing order" again, then back to "sent to manufacturing". I have work to do. What is the hold up, Apple? Gimme my expensive computer!

I did upgrade to the 9650 XT whe I ordered it. I suspect that is the culprit.

Just got an email from the Apple Store. My dual 2.0 GHz Power Mac system was shipped Wednesday. Estimated arrival date is next Tuesday, May 10th. :)

Just got my BTO dual 2.0 PM. It finally arrived today. :D I have pictures but when i tried to upload them they said the file was too big, the photos are in iphoto right now.

I'm thinking of canceling my order from Apple and driving to a store to see if they can put in an ATI 9650. Mine was supposed to ship yesterday and now says 5/12/05. I'm tired of waiting and more than a little annoyed with them canceling my order, replacing it with one of the same specs, and restarting the whole process of "sent to manufacturing".

My G5 has arrived this morning, sitting by my desk, can't wait to get home and play. :)

Dual 2.7GHz PowerPC G5
1GB DDR400 SDRAM (PC3200) - 2x512MB
250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
16x SuperDrive Dual Layer (DVD-R/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL - 256MB GDDR3 SDRAM
Bluetooth Module + Apple Wireless Keyboard & Mouse

I don't know how you guys can put up with the waiting from the Apple online store. I'm so impatient that I almost didn't hold off long enough until the recent updates. I'm glad I did! The 2.7 is an AWESOME machine, especially in the creative suite with 2.5 GB of RAM! But I am coming from a single 800 Mhz G4 PM :)

Heh. Your lucky you didn't order a Dual 2.5 when they came out. I ordered June 9th and didn't receive shipment until August 23rd. Nearly two and a half months.... ;)

For those of you who have them, are the 2.7 Ghz PMs liquid cooled? I think the 2.5's were, but im not 100% sure.

both the dual 2.5GHz pm and the dual 2.7GHz pm are watercooled for noise reasons.

Delayed

My Dual 2.0 PM has also been delayed, apparently won't ship until the 5/12/05. I'm debating going to the Apple store and just buying it there, although then I'd lose the 9650 graphics card.

The Apple store can't swap it out for you? My DUal 2.3 got delayed and all I changed in it was the 9650.

Dammit. I hope ATI isn't causing a holdup.

I ordered the 2.7 this past Monday from macmall. At first it showed up as back ordered, but now I have a ups tracking # showing delivery on Monday, 5/9/05.

Keep in mind I ordered it "stock" and purchased an ATI x800 and 2 gigs of ram seperately. :)

Just got my 2.7GHz Dual today, I am really impressed with Apple's migration facility. Tuned it on, connected firewire cable to old MDD Powermac, selected everything to be transferred, went to have supper. Came back clicked on a couple of ok buttons to confirm registration details and that was it, all my applications, files, 40GB iTunes Library, Safari bookmarks , as well as 4 separate user accounts transferred to the new Powermac. The easiest upgrade I have ever done period. Fan flippin Tastic.

I am impressed well done Apple.

Did you migrate from Panther to Tiger? And no problems? I am wondering if migrating to an updated OS might be an issue (as opposed to just updating hardware with the same OS on both machines).

How big is this box? I hope my mom can fit it in her car or I'll have a hard time getting it home.

LOL, if your any bit as excited as i was for my 2.5 the box wont make it to the first stop sign. You'll tear that baby apart and fasten that thing in with a seatbelt before you remind your mom she's not wearing hers :)
