The quad machine is a joke

Sorry to be grumpy but I would suggest no one pays for the quad machine. Having only 4 ram slots (should have 6 for triple channel support) and only having 8GB ram is sick and wrong. (Consumer boards support from 12-24GB of ram).

Photoshop and Lightroom want Ram so if you run both at the same time (and both can eat up to 3.8GB) you want MORE than that for the other 12 programs you might have open.

Also remember that Lightroom 2.x is a 64 bit application when you calculate how much memory you'll need. That's why my Mac Pro 8 core is going to start with 16gb :D

I just ordered the 2.26GHz 2xQuad-Core with 16GB the ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB with 2x1TB. I could afford the 2.66 but I don't think the extra money would be worth the upgrade. In regards to the quad core I don't want to be limited by RAM. In real life I don't expect to notice the difference between the 2.26 or 2.66HHz.

Oh can't wait :)

I tried looking and looking. Has anybody actually tested 4GB modules on the quad?
