I just wanted to share a quick complement that I think the others should know about as well, as I know we all see Apple stuff on sale at Best Buy sometimes.
I bought an Apple Watch Series 11 for my wife, I decided to skip the store, bought it online and once it arrived, I got a PDF label to print out to send in the old Apple Watch for trade in. No box was provided, so I used an old one I had from Amazon. I took like 55 pictures of all the sides, boxes, charger, band, etc and video of me showing its OS and serial and model number and me unpairing it / turning off find my watch. As I always get worried about other trade in stories I hear about. It was delivered on a Tuesday to a Best Buy warehouse in KY at 9:45AM, I got an email that same day at 7:45 PM that the trade in was inspected, met criteria and the full refund would be given, on the purchase page it showed it and my credit card got it back 2 days later on Thursday and they refunded the tax too.
Well....I got jelly of my Wifes new Series 11 and I know we are right around the corner of the 12 coming out, but I saw a Open Box deal and thought I would give it a shot. They had a Series 11, 46MM, Black on sale in "excellent" for $257, so I decided to get it. The outside box of the Apple Watch that goes around the watch and band box was dirty and one of the tabs was slightly ripped and on one side a marker was used and had the number 8457 on it written, but the interior boxes were sealed and perfect. I did the mail in trade in again but my watch did have some more scratches than hers and deeper. Well, they got the box on Friday at 10:11AM and at 4:47PM I got an email, again full trade in value and it just hit my credit card today.
Maybe I got lucky twice, but I will say the above does give me some more confidence in Best Buy trade in via mail. And last but not least, yes, it seems the Apple Trade in would have given me around $25 more on the first watch and $35 more on the second watch, but they didnt have the same sale prices as best buy. And ontop of that, I know others would say eBay or other websites, but at least I didnt have to deal with a person saying it was in worse condition, or open an dispute case, etc. If I did the math right, on eBay and the other selling websites, I could have probably got around $40ish more per watch, but I think after this smooth experience, not worth the hassle.
